It's not that they aren't listening, they just literally don't know what to do. If you tell an awful sniper that he should buy lothars, for instance, he's not going to know what that is and he might not know how to even buy it piecemeal. And then he might not know how to use it properly, and he might have built/farmed Sniper rather poorly so lothras wouldn't help much.

Meanwhile if you tell a more experienced newbie to buy lothars, he's probably farmed & built Sniper up pretty well and he understands what to do. It's like there's a threshold for being new, and there's a cut off point wher eyou just can't help some players.

Well maybe if you didn't call it a lothars or at least tell them it's the Shadow Blade in the store as it's name, I'm sure they would probably be more likely to buy it rather than going "what the hell is a lothars"

Doesn't seem very helpful to me. You could have a really good Dota 2 player who hasn't played Dota 1, but has no idea what the hell a lothars is, so he doesn't build it which more or less handicaps him.

Valve is trying to keep some of the old names and stuff.

I think if you write Lothar in item shop search bar it will give you Shadow Blade.

Those names ain't hard to get used to either. I played very little of old Dota and they don't seem to confuse me.

So I am watching Dendi's stream and he is playing Lone Druid and has farmed 7 battle furys. I assume this is not the recommended build. His team has a 60k gold lead.

Not sure if DOTA is coming out next week, but some folks down in Southeast Asia who put in their beta key have gotten receipts for "DOTA 2 retail," not "DOTA 2 beta."
So I have no idea.

Maybe that's because Dota is confirmed to be F2P TF2 style, so all we getting with this beta is early access to full client that is getting updated on regular basis. On top of that Dota 2 Test was added.

The other team got completely stomped, it was a 70 minute game, they only got 15 kills.

Played my first human vs human match holy shit jakiro is my favorite now
Got 9 kills (the first time i have actually gotten a kill without using cheats on passive bots) and 0 deaths.

And, thanks to a very nice dazzle on the team i got heals and invincibility every time i was on the brink of death. We won also.
