Well you can't really tax an organisation that is non-profit.
Well you can't really tax an organisation that is non-profit.
uhhhhh
non profit
churches
Are you talking about that in a legal loophole way? Like, where they're classified as non profit but they generate millions of dollars? You're doing that, right?
Well considering by law none of those millions can actually be used for personal gain, it's not a very effective business model.
That doesn't mean you can't be bigoted.
apparently none of the megachurch owners have heard that rule
you should probably tell them that
I love the glitzy non-profit gold the pope is always carrying.
Actually, Estonia is in the lead.
Estonia is generally quite well educated aswell, I like my country.
Most of that is of historical value. A lot of the catholic churches money is tied up in assets and this thus not very useful to them.
Oh.
Ah.
Okay.
"Historical value".
Right.
Sure.
Edited:
Well what about your "historcial value"?
You haven't made an argument.
Right because decorating the most respected person of the Catholic church is clearly because they're all money-grubbing assholes. Okay. Right. Sure. Mmhmm.
Even if your beliefs are different, you seem just as hateful as the extremist religious people and you're acting like you're just "above" these people.
You're the type of person who hurts your own cause by making athiests look like as much of a hate-filled group as the ones you describe.
21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.
23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
#Matthew 19:21-24
1 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
#Matthew 6:1-6
Catholic Church in a nutshell.
Religious people not following their own doctrine whenever it suits them isn't really new.
Exodus 20:13
;D
tell that to the crusades
that's really my biggest problem with religion - why bother following it if you're going to ignore the parts that don't suit you? I know many Christians for example who eat pork but they're specifically told not to eat it.
I am more concerned with women having authority over men, Saul quite clearly outlined in 1 Timothy how shit should go down.
#1 Timothy 2:12
(Before whiny man-bitches cry "CONTEXT", read it in context.. It only gets better and better (Or if you don't have a penis; worse and worse.))
What about my historical value?
Too bad you've got some new crusades already going anyways, and this time religion just helped.
Old testament rules don't apply to Christians as was decided by the first century apostles in the new testament.
people will always find something to fight about
I think religion is a stupid basis for conflict though. It's easier to hate than it is to tolerate I guess
Edited:
yeah I know
it was the only example I could think of because I don't want to go skim the New Testament for various scriptures I'm sure people dismiss to this date
Wise words.
I respect other peoples right to believe what they will. I do not respect people (Atheist or Religious) who seek to influence and change other peoples minds.
It is not your place to tell that person they are right or wrong.
This has always been my stance
I reserve every right to think someone's beliefs are stupid but I'm not going out of my way to change their thinking, that is a right I don't have
then what is it. It's non-conform to their fundamental doctrines. you tell me what it is.
Oh blame me for not sucking the churches dick after millennia of well documented misery because of it. Whoop the fucking doo.
What if their belief was that there was a demon in their child, and the only way to rid of it was to slice the childs neck?
What if their belief was that witches really do exist, and without due course burn suspected witches.
I'm sorry, but that is bullshit.
My motto 'I respect your right to believe anything you choose;
But don't expect me to respect everything you choose to believe'
If someones belief is bringing suffering upon one person, or a group.
You have to bring attention to that belief, you can't just stand there and watch what would otherwise be criminal get shrugged off as: "That person has a sincerely held religious conviction that what they are doing is the will of their almighty".
Since it's too hard for you to do your own research
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papal_regalia_and_insignia
That's not much of a belief as it is a mental illness.
ok just ignore automerge whatever
Nope, Matthew 5:17.
Edited:
And that excuse can't be used to claim the bible's stance on homosexuality doesn't apply, because... well, yknow, Romans.
what about someone who thinks that vaccines are bad
what about someone who thinks all modern medicine is bad
where is the line drawn, exactly
There is a difference between respecting peoples views and allowing murder.
People are allowed to find furries sexually attractive, think fairies exist, Obama is a Kenyan so long as it does not infringe on the rights of others.
That means they cannot go around killing 'witches' nor can they brainwash someone into thinking a certain way.
To be fair I did a bit of research and in the new testament they say "all food is clean"
Whether or not certain meats are considered "food" is different but I didn't see anything directly saying you can't eat something because of its origin.
They are one, and the same.
If hating on a particular group (gays), is considered a mental illness, then most of the world is suffering.
You can't call extreme acts a mental illness, when socially accepted conventions of hate are still adapted and enforced, without question aren't considered the same (It's a double standard).
It's despicable.
Moderates allow for fundamentalists to have an excuse, and that is exemplified with your post:
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing
- Edmund Burke
Technology is a bit of a touchy subject
I don't see how my statement is relevant because people are nitpicking some holes that I didn't clearly define however
Hope it gets higher.
Religion is a fucking disease.
Linking some wikipedia article on the subject that tells me nothing about why one person is exempt from the fundamental teachings of the only prophet this particluar religion ever had.
Wow dude thats some research when's your phd due?
First, address my post.
Secondly, why the gay bashing?
I'm bashing those that thinks homosexuality is an abhorrent sin.
Most of the world is suffering from the same mental illness as those who burn witches, by their unreasonable tentative beliefs of old, in light of a nice document called the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Are you trying to be stupid or trolling...?
The papal regalia isn't a symbol of wealth, it's a symbol of a myriad of other things (notably sovereignty of the Vatican).
Edited:
And that's why religion is a problem. It's easier to hate than it is to tolerate.
I don't understand how that was anti gay bashing but whatever.
It is not people's beliefs that cause them to commit murder. The only person responsible for murder is the person who commits it.
You cannot blame someone's beliefs for the actions they commit.
Ah, so all the gold, jewellery and pompous residences aren't symbols of wealth because "the Vatican said so".
'Kay.
