Hey, I just watched Fight Club and Se7en (yeah, I was in a David Fincher mood) and both of em (Fight Club mostly) were mindblowing. Does anyone know any movies along these lines, movies that just left you speachless at the end?

    Thanks

^Yeah Nolan is good for that. Same for The Prestige.

Also Del Toro's Spanish movies The Devil's Backbone and Pan's Labyrinth have some pretty amazing endings IMO

pretty much every film made by gaspar noe.

to bad there are really only three

i stand alone: about a butcher just trying to get by and survive, fucked up shit follows

irreversible: in the same format as memento (not completely, no flashbacks and shit) and has a bunch of fucked up shit and a twist. don't listen to rusty he hasn't actually seen the movie.

enter the void: just watch it, your mind WILL be blown away and stomped on throughout the entire movie.

each movie becomes much more mindblowing than the last. i stand alone is in a very standard format of storytelling and shooting but it still gets pretty fucked up especially towards the end. irreversible introduces ultra low frequency sounds and vertigo inducing camera work made specifically to unsettle you and make you feel uncomfortable.

enter the void is a giant clusterfuck of mindblowing. it's unrelenting and extremely polarizing (not as polarizing as irreversible but still god damn polarizing). the movie itself is basically the stargate sequence from 2001 stretched out for around 2 hours and a half. the movie becomes so dynamic and nonlinear it goes to new places. i recommend watching this one high as shit if you do drugs.

i have this list here but i want to give others a chance. plus i haven't verbally stroked off noe in a while.

Watch Inception, get an understanding of what its about. Watch it again high. Get mind blown.

Also, Apocalypse Now (not necessarily "mind blowing" but when it ended, it left me with a truly unique feeling.)

Here's one that will absolutely blow you out of the water: Moon. 2009 movie directed by David Bowie's son.

    Edited:

The entire movie is a mindfuck until the big reveal at the beginning of act 3

I can definitely agree with Apocalypse Now. That soundtrack, combined with Martin Sheen's very little amount of dialogue helps to create this wonderful sense of what is insanity? What it can do to a person.

Avatar. In the 3d cinema I was completely blown away. It's been said many times before, but it really is like going on a holiday. So beautiful.

Then when you watch it on a normal screen at home, you're blown away again by how boring and cheap it really actually is.

they're apart of the genre "new french extreme"

i guess you could still call them arthouse but the former is the correct term

It's not at all a mind fuck. You get the idea of what it's all about when you're half way into the movie. Brilliant nonetheless.

I guess it depends what you mean when you say "mindblowing". Like, movies with a good twist at the end or just very neat concepts? In either case:

    The Usual Suspects
    Memento
    Being John Malkovich
    The Matrix
    The Truman Show
Maybe Inception if you watch it when high
Any Coen brothers' movie basically (not in the twist sense of course, just the way their movies are presented and etc. is amazing)
