Unless I'm missing something this multiplayer is pretty bad. I've played 3 matches and it mostly consists of people going to the highest point on the map and camping with that semi-auto gun I need to grind to reach.
Feels more like third person Call of Duty with worse hit detection then a Max Payne game.
yeah, the mp for 360 is basically mini-30 vs the semiauto sniper. I get around this by using the RPG which can get people hidden behind camping spot #18462 pretty easily.
also what is the difference between hardcore and old school? the description for old school makes it sound like the difficulty is above hardcore withthe removal of last stand.

Also I'm loving this game
Max takes pills for a very good reason.
So you can't choose to buy individual DLCs if you bought the game retail?
What the fuck is this?
GAME aren't even selling the Rockstar Pass for the PC version.
You probably will be able to, it just isn't available yet.
That's fucking stupid.
Is it just me or is the Max Payne 3 single player one of the hardest games of recent times? I've literally retried the Becker airport shootout 10 times now and I'm still not anywhere close to completing it. When I'm behind cover and 15 people are aiming for my head as soon as I pop out, what should my strategy be? It doesn't help that enemies only get dizzy the first 4 times you shoot them in the face.
Edit: Finally.
I'm still amazed about how great the art direction is in this game. The levels with incredible detail, the character design, everything.
Do as any self respecting Max Payne fan does.
Shootdodge everywhere.
Everywhere.
EVERY.
FUCKING.
WHERE.
i dont, you become too reliant on it and it takes out some of the difficulty
My strategy was: Take cover, use some non-dodge Bullet Time and pop out to take out a couple enemies, shootdodge to get behind new cover, rinse and repeat with the occasional running out of cover in BT. If you don't use bullet time at least, even out of shootdodge, it becomes ungodly difficult to do much about enemy bullets.
I never shootdodge, it screws me over more than it helps.
Different strokes for different folks, in that case. I'd love to use just bullet time, but it costs so much, in Hardcore you only get about 6 seconds of efficient bullet time without shootdodge.
I don't want to start a console sucks thread, but after getting this on PC after playing through some of the first levels on PS3, the difference in controls is Night and Day. It really made me enjoy the game more.
For me Max Payne was always about freedom of Movement and Aim, and I don't think you experience that full feeling when you have to take cover behind a wall all the time, at least that's how it felt when I was playing on PS3.
I like consoles, but just from playing Max Payne 3 on the PC I can tell it's vastly superior in controls alone. You need so much precision with aiming that it's ridiculous.
This is the hardest game I've played this generation.
Atleast the hardest shooter.
The cop shop looks like it's going to be my favorite.

You forgot the stuff about the new achievements, M4, and loadout items.

Oh, I found how to make this game a lot easier. Just never use painkillers manually. Stock them up and every time you are about to die the game goes into slow motion and gives you a chance to come back.
After dying over and over on the Panama part I cleared the condemned building part without a single death and with like 5 painkillers left.
Why even let you take the painkillers manually if it's worse?
Taking them manually will heal more and every time you go into last stand you'll be on the floor. You'll get shot up before you can run and get behind cover.
Taking them manually actually, on any difficulty other than Old School heals about 1/3 of your health or less I find, while going into Last Man Standing and recovering gives you back 2/3.

Of course I could be wrong.
Pretty sure you're right. However, LMS has a habit of not working to the player's advantage, such as when an enemy ducks behind cover, or when Max gets shot in the back and takes a second or two to fully turn around to be able to shoot the enemy. The way I do it is, I try to keep some spare Painkillers or two incase of emergency but use what I can inbetween major gunfights to keep Max's damage low for an optimal performance next fight.
Just finished it. Last chapter is sweet. Singleplayer overall was really fun except for the frustrating difficulty spikes.
Actually pressing crouch or cover puts you into crouch/cover from the ground instead of just standing straight up.
so when do you guys think rockstar will release the new dlc at what time
Probably sometime after midnight. If not then 9 AM PST / 12 PM EST.
I completely forgot the PC DLC isn't coming until the 17th. You got me excited.
Fuck.
Is there a reason for this delay?
guys the dlcs and packs are out but for those who bought the rockstar pass are going to have to wait cause it aint showing up for me in the ingame marketplace
EDIT
rockstar pass buyers may now get the dlc !
Kinda glad I didn't buy the Rockstar Pass. The game is fun, I just have no real interest to play it.
Probably not
I got max Payne 3 for PS3, I also got the Rockstar pass and I can't get the dlc (still showing that i need to pay 5 dollars) Is any one else having this problem?
Never mind, they fixed it.
matchmaking needs some work
finally got into 8 vs 8 team deathmatch with guys that were my level 11 to 14 none higher and none less
god it was the best match i ever had becouse i fucking raped everyone
join another match with a bout 3 lvl 30 guys
get insta raped by sniper rifles, grenade launchers and EVERY FUCKING THING THAT MOVES
Just beat the game. Overall it was pretty damn good. The presentation of Max Payne 3 is different from the tone of the first two games, which does at time make it feel less like Max Payne then what Remedy might have developed. That said story is probably the most engaging of the three, at least in my opinion, and is still still full of lows, regret, and bad decisions; and Max's narration is always present.
The level design is amazing. Each chapter takes you a new setting to wreck havoc, and all are full of tiny details and intricacies. The game play feels almost identical to the first two games, though keep in mind it's been awhile since I last played 1 & 2. It's still just as fun dodging bullets and activating slow motion as ever, and those killcams are brutal.
That said, the game does have difficulty spikes, at times, to the point where it feels unfair. These moments are far and few between, and I can only recall three or four instances where they really seemed to just ramp things up to ludicrous levels of difficulty. It's not a game breaker, but they are there, and it's not great.
Also, on a personal note, and not a knock at the game, but I found it very possible to play through Max Payne 3 without utilizing the cover system. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but either way I was pleased you at least had the option of playing the game without resorting to hiding behind chest high walls the whole game. I feel Max Payne (The series) is/was always about freedom of movement and aim, and hiding behind a wall kind of restricts both.
So yeah, great game. Buy it now if you haven't already on Amazon for 50% off, and if you liked the first two games at all.
The spawning still needs work.
I think the matchmaking is so bad because there's never many people playing, and I would attribute the bad spawning to Rockstar never really doing such a CQC multiplayer game before.
Almost every single game has bad spawning nowadays; Call of Duty tries to spawn you near teammates but doesn't take into account whether enemies are near them as well, Blacklight Retribution spawns you all over the damn place except in certain modes and even in those there's a tendency of spawning only to round a corner and get blasted instantly.
It's less like 'inexperience with spawning systems' and more like 'don't know how to avert the possibility of spawning near enemy players' nowadays.
I'm a jackass.
