What's with these incredibly high scores for new york minute and score attack? Are the leaderboards still showing cheated scores?

Just bought Max Payne 3, waiting for the ridiculous 8 hour download now...
What can I expect? Never really played the first two games (never was a shoot'em'up kinda guy, much prefered racing) but watched the Max Payne movie recently. Am I doing it all wrong?

Well, the movie is a poor way to try and fill in what happened, as it is not much like the game.

You don't need to know much about the last two games as they aren't really vital to the story in this one.

Oh right, thanks for clearing that up! Is it worth trying to get copies of MP1&2? Simply for the story? I hear its pretty good.

The first two games have pretty damn good gunplay (albeit, MP2 is more refined), and while the stories aren't exactly.. Unique on their own, the way they're delivered in the originals is what really makes Max Payne so different. The noir stylings, Max's narration and metaphors of the various occurences, the dark-yet-witty dialogue and events that occur. The third game is very serious with rare humor, but even the second game - more serious than the first, which didn't even take itself seriously - had a number of hilarious moments.
Something about them just makes the series stand out from the rest, for some reason. v

I was playing through score attack on the docks. I was doing incredibly well and was right near the end with a score of about 27,000, but then my game froze and crashed.
This is incredibly appropriate

Well, I think it's clear that he's one of the bad guys from the beginning, where his people start shooting downed Comando Sombras and Da Silva tries to stop them.
The other thumbnails are shit, too.

Odd, it's been giving me some every time I kill somebody.
And feuds just sort of happen, right? Sorry, I didn't really take the time to learn more about multiplayer.

Yet another oddity I noticed with Max Payne 3 is in Bullet Time. As we all know, enemy bullets slow down to the point that you can see them traveling - but Max's own bullets don't. An understandable break from realism alongside him being able to shoot faster than other enemies during this period (even rapid fire weapons somehow shoot faster in Bullet Time for the user), but it's just odd that while enemies shoot three or four times during bullet time and you see the bullets coming towards you, you just aim towards a mook's head and shoot - bam, instantly dead mook that now takes a moment or two to even look like he's reacting to the shot due to the slow-mo.

well, the 9999999999 scores are cheated, but the 136.66 or w/e scores are just bugged out, on a screenshot by another fper, it shows that i was the highest score with 136.66(give or take) but i really just have 2 minutes on it

So I was playing with a friend the other day and he brought up a really interesting point.
Since in bullet time enemy bullets are slowed down, is it possible to shoot another bullet?
It seems unlikely but Rock-star has surprised me with the amount of detail already

The easiest way for me to handle the guy at the roof is to turn on bullet time and run left and right avoiding bullets
Rolling is useful when I want to change directions and shootdodge is the best way to quickly jump into cover and shoot the guy at the same time

I doubt that they would do another Max Payne considering how poorly Max Payne 3 sold.

It actually sold 1.5 million worldwide across all platforms.
Not sure how effective that is, though.

I don't think I would want a Max Payne 4 unless it's another 8 years. This one ties it up fairly nicely; he goes on vacation and doesn't go back to NYC and probably lives the rest of his life in hawaii or some shit

We should have Passos and the game starts with the de Marco crime family attacking him at his wedding. Sure it wouldn't be half as narcisstic and there'd be a lot more 'Bro' but I'd play it.

Has anyone figured out how to play or convert the .awc sound format that the Max Payne 3 content files contain? I'd really like the menu themes or some music from the club or whatever else, but I haven't found out what the hell they actually are

I think somebody here posted the club music awhile ago but i can't remember what it is, On the topic of music does anyone know the first hoboken bar song? Not running wild in the streets but the other one. You should hear it if you play score attack because it skips the intro cutscene.
