Sign me up, i've been wanting to know how a life without porn feels like.
Based on what i've read, porn of just one person is allowed, isn't it?
Yep. Swapping porn daily might also work (see: all the adults that used playboy), but I'd assume it'd negatively affect recovery time.
Ultimately no speculation in the world compares so the actual act of doing or testing something.
I would say that it is a good idea to test the idea regardless of you agreeing or disagreeing with it.
You do not have to fully quit masturbating or fully quit watching porn, but testing this for a week would ultimately not hurt anything.
I personally have been testing this for a few days, and I have noticed changes which could be probably best explained by a raise in my testosterone levels.
It would be comparably logical to assume that masturbating everyday may ultimately be keeping your testosterone levels too low, which would certainly make it a good idea to decrease the frequency (such as doing it once per week).
I did not make it through a full week yet, but I will make sure to post the results when I do. (or when I don't)
Based on what I've read, most people who go full sexual stop will have their libido totally gone after five days, and back in another five.
this is a very stupid idea, especially if you cease all sexual activity and stimulation during this time period. i highly reccomend against this is if you are not above the age of 18 as it could cause some sort of mental issue later in life, intentionally stifling yourself like this.
Good one
Recently (maybe a month) I've only been masturbating once every 3 days to a week, and I do believe it's helping me a lot. I still look at porn, but I never "finish". I don't think I can actually stop looking at porn forever, but I am in the progress of looking at it a lot less now. I also have a job now, and I go to school, which keeps me very busy.
I want to attempt this, but I don't know if I could. I could not look at porn, but there's still plenty of things that would tempt me (TV, videos games, seeing really hot irl girls, etc). Plus, deleting the "folder"! I know its easy to do, but I spent way to much time on it to just throw it away.
Progress is progress! Either way, if you're still attached to your porn folder, you're not dedicated to rebooting.
ok i'm calling bullshit on this, that is downright illogical, if anything porn will reduce depression, sexual stimulation has been scientifically proven to release endorphins and feelgood chemicals.
Endorphins (opioids) are temporary.
What if someone merely looked at porn, but didn't "fap" to it? Would that still have negative effects, and would there be anything to gain by quitting in such a scenario?
I couldn't say. You're welcome to test it.
No looking at girls on facebook? What in the hell?
No masturbating to images of random girls you don't know on facebook.
Bullshit.
Since when does masturbation have anything to do with social skills? And since when does masturbation have any influx on your confidence?
I generally feel more relaxed and reinvigorated after a good fap, once I've recovered from the endorphins I feel pretty damn good.
Edited:
So basically we're not allowed to get exposed to imagery that has even the slightest chance of being arousing?
Better bunker up then, because no matter where I go I see advertisements for lingerie/underwear and swimming outfits...
Since low dopamine is linked to anxiety and depression (see: sources)
Exposure to imagery of porn while masturbating, not of slightly arousing anything.
Is it fine if you look at Facebook or w.e other site's pictures, but you're still fantasizing in your head (real girls, no porn stars or porn of course)?
Do you know the girls? If so, yeah, it's fine. If you're doing random searches, no, that's not ok.
I don't masturbate nor look at porn. I do every now and then look at pictures of models like Ciny May and shit. Do I need to stop?
I'm in tho if he answer to my question is yes.
You can, yeah, as long as you don't swap out the models on a minutely basis.
I'm up for it, but does it count if it's with my girlfriend? We've talked about watching porn together.
This is a tricky one, because if you're watching porn together, you're focused on the porn and not each other, I'd assume. I'll add you to the list, but be careful.
Try again in a week.
They say porn can cause desensitization, but I sure as hell still get horny at the littlest things. can anyone explain how that works? lol
Anyway about to go to bed, gunna take a while to fall asleep since I used fapping to help me get tired faster. Day one completed without fapping. The real challenge will be in two days when I come home drunk.
Yeah, for the first fiveish days (based on the testimonials) your libido skyrockets.
I'm not going to comment on what this will or will not do, but I will say that all of you will fail.
OK.
This isn't some fight you can win, seriously.
You're gonna fail. Every single person in the history of the world who's ever tried to do anything like this has failed. You're fighting against the most bred in, deeply rooted instinct in the human brain, you're gonna lose. Sorry.
You might as well be trying to wait out boredom. I have no idea why any of you are bothering.
Pornography isn't the most deeply rooted instinct in the human brain.
I'll admit that I haven't read through the sources linked in the OP as I don't really have the time for it right now, and thus I am speaking from ignorance here, but is it not possible that it's a case of depressed and socially anxious people reaching out to pornography for the power fantasy it imbues masturbation with? I've been suffering from depression since 4th grade, brought on by a teacher that treated me like dirt. Later in life, around the 10th grade, I lost my only friend as a consequence of him stealing from my parents. Until then I rarely looked at porn, but as my 11th year of school dragged on and my depression was kicked into overdrive due to a lack of social interaction I increasingly began to rely on masturbation for that quick dose of dopamine, serotonin and endorphines. I'm not at all dismissing the science behind desensitization, but I don't think such complex issues as depression and social anxiety can be boiled down to the simple act of using pornography as a masturbation aid. Having said that, I will give this a go. If it helps with my depression, then that's great, but I'll also keep an eye on other factors in my life to make sure I don't falsely attribute any improvements to this concept.
I'm not saying this is a be-all end-all cure for depression and anxiety, I'm saying it could help with some cases.
I feel like shit now.
Probably because i was used to fap when i would go home

You'll get through it - go do some pushups or something.
Note when I said that, I meant actually going out of your way to find randoms on facebook, because that still has the same "get while the gettin's good" mentality.
