Skrillex has had such a massive detrimental effect on Dubstep it's unbelievable.

What's even worse is that he's more glitch based than anything else from what I've heard of his shit.
Well, I do not want to jump on the hate bandwagon, but his music is really simple and not that amazing. For people who like big basses and crazy sounds it might suit, but it definitly lacks some finesse.

Also the dude should get a new haircut.

I also watched the new Bieber song and holy fuck that music clip is so exagerated to no extend.

The best thing is that I did not live far away from it and I went very often to concerts there. Always a great experience, now I live in Austria in Tyrol, it is hard to move around and there is not so much stuff here.

Because of the mainstream crowd thinking ''hey! that's noisy and Brostep is noisy! Skrillex is the bestest Dubstep ever!''
To cut a long story short, America happened.

I don't think "simple" and "lacking finesse" are rightful descriptions of what bad music can be. Besides, I do know why people enjoy it, but have to try an album for myself to get a better idea.

You are right, as always. It does not fit to well. Let's say it is uninspiring and the lacks the feeling that I feel for most music that I really like. It just lacks something or maybe it is not my style of music, but I listen to lots of different stuff.

The enjoyment from skrillex imo is a whole new world from enjoying Benga and Burial.

Is it even right to call him dubstep?

And isn't dub a kind of reggae music? Too many genre types to comprehend. :(

Besides today it is so fucking hard to label different music, genres are blent together, different influences all over the place. It gets way to confusing, especially when you talk to someone about it and they instantly flame you when you use the false label. I cannot be arsed to look everything up, especialy considering electronic/techno music.

There are so many subgenres and such, I just use the term electronica/techno.

Early Dubstep took a lot of inspiration from Dub and two-step Garage, the genre then borrowed the ''Dub'' prefix.
It's a throwback to the genre's inspiration, which is why it irks me when people call Dubstep ''Dub''.

so you guys heard about the guy in against me, right?

also do you have suggestions of bands with female singers that aren't terrible? i am familiar already with the cranberries, paramore, metric, heart, and some others from the 70s-80s i can't remember.

i need newer music that doesn't suck. metric is my favorite currently.

I'd definitely say Gramatik and J. Rabbit, Cubism is pretty good as well if you just want super abrasive bass lines and mad drops.

I do not know what style you might like but defnitly look up "Portishead", "Hooverphonic" and "PJ Harvey". They are great, I really do love Hooverphonic, she sings just so well mixed together with some Trip-Hop.
