Would this work to make the molex output to PCI-E? I see that it has two outputs, so I'm sort of worried that a full load video card would draw too much power and fry them. Would it route all of the power through one of the molex adapters if only one of the PCI-E connections was used, or would it distribute it equally? Why don't any good companies make adapters like this?
I always solder custom cables where both connectors goes into one molex connector. The power consumption of what most card draws cannot even make the cable warm, let a long frying it.

My GTX 670 came with two, I can just include them with the 6870.
    You're a great man

I'll sleep on the decision to buy it, I'm not entirely sure yet (but certainly hold onto one, I can pay an extra 10 for the cables if you want)

I'm mostly worried because I saw a comment on some forum about single molex cable burning because it exceeded the recommended power for the cable

I think i'm going to pass on your 6870 offer. I can get a second 6850 for 30 bucks more and get more performance than a single 6870.

    Edited:

Unless i can crossfire my 6850 with the 6870... But that would be a bit pointless wouldn't it?

    Edited:

    And problematic?

Content on my part. I'm using this terrible temp Acer laptop while I wait for my MacBook Pro to get back from being loaned out on a business trip. It's got 2GB RAM, an Athlon II X2 P340, and a Mobility Radeon 4250. I'm using FireFox as my primary browser, and I generally have 30-40 tabs open. It is terrible.

Awww you poor thing, my Acer has a single core Turion, 2Gb of RAM and a ATI Radeon Xpress 1100.

Chromium runs sorta well, doubt it could take 10 tabs though.

Pretty sure you can crossfire any two cards from the same line (68XX, 48XX, etc) unless they've changed it since the 4000 series. I'll double check that.

Yep, but it functions as 2 6850s crossfired. The superior part of the 6870 gets turned off while it's crossfired with a worse card. (I just checked, you automerge breaker you)

In conclusion, getting a cheap 6870 is better than a new 6850 in this case.

This Intel Atom based netbook still does well with Firefox running about 10 tabs.

Why is it that really expensive review builds never managed to get above 60 fps on highest settings in bf3 with 1920x1080 resolution on the 680/7970.

But one fps pro manages to have a steady 120 fps with the gtx 680 highest settings 1920x1080 and complains when his frame-rate goes down to 80 fps in bf3.

He does also not overclock etc.

This is the first review to be close to it:

Every other must be running a 60hz screen or something.

Because that benchmark you just posted has MSAA turned off, most reviewers turn everything as high as it can go including anti aliasing and all that shit which has a pretty big effect on performance

Yet with aa on and the rest as high as he could put them he got min 80 fps and avg 100 fps with max 120 fps on 1920x1080.

I am trying to tell everyone here that he did absolutely nothing to the game etc.

    Have you tried optifine?

Also the original Command and Conquer games (1&2, as well as Red Alert) will run perfectly fine on that. Also there's an older game called Shogo: Mobile Armor Division. It's like Quake, but you sometimes are a mech that can turn into a hover tank thing. Age of Empires, as well. The original Quake and Quake II are options. If you are a Star Trek fan, you can get Star Trek: Voyager: Elite Force 1, it's like Quake III but with a kickass story mode, and the bots are much smarter. Really pretty much any game pre ~2001 or 2 will work fine.

    Edited:

Check your local thrift store for a CD section(They usually lump games and music discs together), I have more than a dozen awesome old games from my local Goodwills and Salvation Armies. You can get some great stuff from there.
