Damn I come into this thread to tell you all how my PSU caught fire last night when instead I stumble on facepunch Jersey Shore: the thread

But in any case, PSU caught fire last night... Played Witcher 2, PC shut off... wondering if I tripped a ccord I turn it back on to only find a little flame pop out of the back of my PSU :(

I just bought $400 in new components so I hope my shit isn't fried, it was a coolermaster 550w.I'm thinking it isn't because from what I've looked up, stuff like hissing/sparks usually means fried shit and all I saw was flame. Guess we'll never know for sure untill I swap it out and test though.

Gonna head over to best buy today to pick one up. It's overpriced by $20 or so (94 plus tax for a 600w corsair "gamer series" or some shit PSU) but atm I feel like paying for the convenience of being able to work on and do what I need to do now instead of waiting for shipping from newegg. Wish we had actual hardware stores around here.

See if you can return the power supply then order one from Newegg. I picked up one from my friend at Bestbuy, though it may have been some other store, and used that one until my order from newegg came in the mail. It was basically putting 80$ on hold for 3 days while I waited.

It's a horrible thing to do as BestBuy is losing money, but they seriously can't expect me to put up with the shit customer service and high prices.
