Their source is based off another website referencing someone's email. That is not a legitimate source at all. And even if it were true, why could Gabe say they are announcing anything? It's a surprise for a reason!

The reason those assholes at IGN posted that is for the free publicity, and of course they didn't think it through well at all, as now what little good reputation they had left has been sullied.

While I'm as frustrated as anyone that Episode 3 is still under wraps, we can't just sit here and call them lazy. They're putting out new content for their games on a fairly consistent basis, and let's not forget Portal 2 which was an easy GOTY contender.

The longer they wait the higher the expectations become. They're not going to be able to satisfy people's expectations if they wait any longer.

you all got SUPER EXCITED that Episode 3 was coming, when in reality it wasn't, and now you're all raging about something you all hyped yourselves up for.
I'm sorry, but with Valve, fans seem to do this with EVERY single chance they can, and they always go on about valve being epic trolls when in reality it's the fans themselves creating these situations.

Each E3 will be not HL3 from the next year to the next. HL3 is and will be a joke like Duke Nukem Forever.
If everyone stops asking for HL3. Also we still have EP3 to go.

DNF also stopped and restarted development numerous times.

There's a thought. Gabe might refer to it as HL3, or leave it up to speculation. But dammit, something about the next Half-Life better be mentioned quick. I know rushing Valve would do nothing for development, but the last chapter in HL came out just about 5 years ago. The last major chapter came out close to 8 years ago. I have faith in Valve, and knowing them, they'll put out a great game. I just want some real news on it soon.

In all likely hood there is a great chance that some giant fans of Valve have probably died before Episode 3 was announced.
The odds are actually pretty high. And it's incredibly fucking sad.
Why does it have to be a secret, Valve, why?

Pretty sure Duke Nukem forever was overly hyped, the community is doing the same to HL3, hence why valve won't say a thing.

The more they put off the next Half Life game the less I care about it, though this is not nearly as bad as DNF.

Portal 2, imo, was decent but no-where near GOTY material, but that isn't the point of the thread.
I think Valve should, at the very least, let us know they're working on something. Anything at this point would be nice, we've not heard of EP3/HL3, whatever you want to call it, for 5 entire years. Now, I can understand why they'd want to create suspense over it, but at this point, it's been going on so long, people are losing interest, I know i am.

"No new projects". If they've been working on it for 5 years, it isn't exactly a new project, is it? Not really trusting the source, or any of this for that matter, but just because it says there aren't any new projects doesn't mean EP3 wouldn't show.
