Stay classy GMOD Community
SAWCE: http://ausfrag.com/community/showthread.php?174
Well damn, I haven't even played GMod in years, but this isn't all that surprising.
Isn't the first and won't be the last.
The GMOD community is incredibly shitty. There is no denying it. I feel pain for AusFrag and that it had to come this.
After spacebuild became too unstable to play I stopped bothering with Gmod.
this is why I'd rather run it myself, as I always have.
Hopefully the next update for Gmod 13 will breathe some life back into garrysmod. The modding community for it is basically nonexistent now in days. Hopefully someone will find a way to stop the stupid DDOS'ers aswell.
DDOS'ing, crashing servers with props/wire, idiot community
I really wish Gmod had a better fate.
I hope you are fucking proud of all the fun you ruined with your retarded hack, seth.
Well, I only mess with gmod on singleplayer now that my preferred servers closed up shop.
The community is what finally pushed me out of the door of developing for Garry's Mod.
Every time I would make a comprehensive, unique, complex, or original game, one of two things would happen:
1.) No one would play it.
2.) People would play it and constantly bitch about how its too hard / complicated / not enough guns (yes, I tried games that didn't have guns as a focus) / not DarkRP
My games weren't that hard or complex. It's just everyone wanted either a DarkRP or a CS:S. Anything else was ignored.
So gmod is dead?
Haven't been able to play Gmod since Gmod Central closed up. Maybe when Valve makes a new engine and if Garry makes another Gmod then I will get into this kind of sandbox gameplay again.
That really sucks.
What is worse that these kinds of problems/issues happen for the stupidest of reasons. Usually involves someone who was banned for being retarded and trying to get revenge. Or just some gmod communities who hate each other. This is why I usually stick with single player. My days of multi player died when Warmelons RTS died.
64/64 server: Revolt.
However, their head admin team is a bunch of douchey Atheists and British nationalists. No surprise. Same with Fearless.
I'll be happy with another game that replicates spacebuild, separate the awesome gamemode from the shit-tastic game.
I haven't played gmod in years, whats it like now?
far from it
Spacemode was great until the life support system got so complex it was comparable to wire mod.
I didn't know people still played Garrysmod
Life support wasn't really complex.
It was, by the end of spacebuilds life the amount of shit you had to put onto your ship was ridiculous, and then on top of that you needed mire mod to manage it all.
Gmod also got far too tedious where every single server needed you download a ton of addons and most of the time it just showed up as Errors.
Learning curve did kind of throw itself sky high around LS3. LS2 was much simpler.
I haven't even been able to run GMod since the last couple updates.
Always had fun improvising crappy looking "trash" cars and what not, Serverwide Rube Goldberg devices, spontaneous fun.
Then came wire and I couldn't be aresed to learn a "scripting language" (wire modules) just to keep up with building.
Nowadays I mainly play gamemodes.
Does anybody know why garrysmod is so vulnerable to ddos in comparison to other games/ why people use it more then usual?
Its community attracts (and already contains) the worst kind of people
Last time I tried getting back into GMod, I was on a server where there was this guy who kept firing weapons on spawn, and then threatening to DDoS anyone who said shit about him.
He was actively bragging about all the other shit he had done, like griefing on Minecraft and how he had a bunch of people on his DDoS list already.
Why does GMod tend to attract egotistical pricks?
social rejects go to gmod and pretend to be super cool
people still call them out on being social rejects
they ddos the server
The game itself isn't vulnerable to DDoS attacks. There's DDoS scripts some teenager sells that lets you DDoS GMod servers. And guess who buys those? Same people who buy aimbots. (which, by the way, cost twice as much as GMod itself)
the only thing DRP is good for is pissing everyone off in the server by breaking extremely simple rules, then RDMing for 30 minutes and somehow not getting booted for it.
Sadly though, even that isn't really much fun too. and Gmod RP is kind a a giant joke as well. Building's gotten meh.
LS3 was an abomination, it took the fun out of it in the name of realism.
You can start complaining about realism once the planets are correctly scaled and spaced apart.
I remember the alpha stargates with LS2, it was incredible, just having enough power to keep the gate open for a few seconds while your stations shielding failed under an attack.
I don't get how people enjoy RP, most of the "serious RP" servers seemed to be filled with people walking around doing absolutely nothing because the dumbasses who run the server make it impossible to make any money.
Most of the time it just seemed to be loads of people running up the stairs on the nexus getting hit with stun batons.
Uh, almost every game does that?
might be because role-playing isn't about making money.
though a lot of the GMod "RP" servers are pretty shitty. GMod isn't built for immersive role-playing (eg hard-coded limits on chat message length)
realism in a sandbox game is retarded, that's exactly why I hated wiremod. Too complex and limited
but at the same time, a complex wire system can do something no normal build can do.
Remember GMOD tower?
So sad what has happened to the GMod community.
War of the Servers (Or whatever the great movie was called) needs to be redone with all the new elements like DDoS-ing and bad stuff like that. Wire crashers, whatever.
What did happen to GMOD tower anyways?
my automerge
Considering it cost money to posses anything useful in RP I'd say money is pretty damn important when it comes to enjoying it.
