It is the whole player dynamic that makes the mod so great. The zombies are merely a theme- It's the other players that are the real threat.

But what do I do? I get in run around kill some zombies... noone talks to me and you only talk on side. i dont know my goal and purpose.
I'm hoping that the guy who made DayZ ports it to Arma3 with some offical help beforehand, so it can come out reasonably soon after it's release. Afterall the guy who made DayZ does work at BI
I just feel like it'll really boost sales and interest in the ArmA franchise as a whole, and BI totally deserve it :3:
Though it could also really suck because you'll get the actual ArmA fans having to deal with the "dayz" people or something. I dunno :p
So after killing in self defense I loaded up my pack with food and water and decided to head inland until my humanity increased. I figured I may starve inland but I'll be shot on sight by the coast so it was suicide to stay. Helped a newbie out on the way off the coast though, now I'm hiking through the mountains.
Got back in, died. Storming airfields ain't easy. I had 10 blood bags, and shitloads of every medical supply, filling up my ALICE.
Laaame
I really hope it does get ported right away; I feel it'll be amazing in Arma 3. Especially now with the hopeful perspective of easier close quarters navigation. Even though I could see the traditional Milsim side of the Arma community getting annoyed I can't help but feel like I don't care what their opinion is; because of DayZ Arma: CO is on the topsellers page of the steam store. (At least it was last time I checked) That just goes to show what even user developed content can do for a game; if BI is smart then they will set aside the time for it to get a proper port and development before hitting store shelves.

As much as this is just a "Game" I can't help but feel it portrays human interaction during such events fairly accurate enough. Everyone would resort back to that human survival mode and team up with those that suit their "pack". It's frightening and awesome at the same time; this is the first time that I have been legitimately scared of another human being in a video game. In other FPS' it's more about competition and getting to the top of the scoreboard, but this survival aspect really drives home the point that people will do whatever it takes to gain status and survive.
I just went on a massive passive raid on the Airfield after being picked up by a group of about ten Russian speakers on US3. After the raid finished we all went to Stary Sobor where everyone logged off besides two others and I. One of the two others capped me and the third person before disconnecting.
Two cars worth of equipment, lost.
Holy shit. I went into a warehouse and there were like ten zombies or more. I killed them all without a ton of trouble and than while I was about to cook some meat from a goat I killed earlier they all spawned again AT ONCE
I killed over 25. 78 total kill count now.
I am on EU5 and desperately need a blood transfusion near Zelengosk. Can anyone assist? I'll trade compasses, maps, tool kits, food anything.
Edited:
I was out of water so I had to raid the local grocery store. Killed another 15 or so but now my total count is up to 94.
I'll be near Zelengosk in EU5. I need transfusion. Please, anyone. I'll be here for awhile, I stocked up on water and ammo. Hiding in a barn.
Do you have blood bags Codemonkey? I'll be a bro if you do.
I do not, unfortunately. No hospitals for miles, they're all in the city. I would be in your debit though if you could get one and help me out somehow.
Is there one in the city near you? I don't want to go to cherno, that place is a death trap.
Edited:
I'm around Mogileva right now
Just a thing I've been thinking on: I can't see, as much as I try, DayZ as a game.
It just feels like a zombie outbreak simulator, and a realistic one at that. An experience I had totally blew my mind.
I was alone at Electro, searching through a lobby (i don't know its real name, its a large building in front of a square, has some chairs and elevators and a soda dispenser). I saw a flare being thrown a bit away, so I threw a chemlight in front of the building and waited, hiding and hoping id get the kill. not 15 seconds later, a bandit storms in, fully geared and with an ak pointed at me. doing what was left for me to do, i crouched and did the lean dance of friendship.
he did it back, i checked his name and then we teamed up.
fast forward, he got me an alice, bunch of ammo, we sticked together and got to a hospital tent, got LOADS (LOADS) of medical supplies, met another guy there, we rode together and then last page.
it was tense as SHIT (especially getting to the medical tents, pitch black at night), and then travelling to the airbase.
its fantastic, but often not fun at all.
I just spent about an hour with a teammate getting to cherno from the airstrip and then climbing to the top of the clocktower
Once ontop, I found a pair of binoculars, I reached for my B button to use them and completely missed
I muttered "uh oh..." as my character stood up and climbed over the ledge
Many LOL's were had
Yes, I do the lean dance of friendship all the time when I'm alone and a man with an AK and ski-mask comes running at me, very realistic.
I know there is a hospital in Cherno for a fact. Maybe Electro too.
Sorry I didn't respond faster, I ran into more Zeds.
There may be some in Stary too in the military camp, or at the Airstrip.
Codemonkey, I'm wallyroberto@hotmail.com on steam, add me.
There's a hospital in Berezino too.
Add codemonkey3 to steam, I can't find you.
They have skimasks..?
I was more implying a situation in real life.
I honestly wish they would ditch the KSK models though, they don't exactly fit the environment.
This is one of at least two reasons I've bound vault to a double-tap.
NAPA or Chedaki would be better, removing bandit models all together would be the best.
The guy who develops the mod already tested it on Arma 3 and got it working it absolutely no trouble.
source?
Yessssss. All I gotta do now is get a knife, cause I found matches in the house today. It also makes lighting up the super-dark nights a bit easier.
We are packing heat.
My priority is usually finding a primary weapon, followed by food/water, then just slowly upgrading my gear after that.
What's the latest update for Arrowhead? I only have a boxed version and their website is a clusterfuck of updates.
I'm guessing 1.59 to 1.60?
I just want people to play with :(
Australian servers are full 100 percent of the time.
Jesus Christ, that man has binoculars! We're all fucked if we ever run across them now.
Edited:
fucking ladders how do they work
fantastic
Well I managed to help out codemonkey, we had a pretty successful scavenging fest. Didn't meet anyone the whole time we were on a 50 player server. Weird, but still good.
We did hear gunshots but kept our distance. Ended up stocking up on ammo and food, mostly. Both of us were able to bring our blood levels up to nearish normal. Also 150ish Zack kills now.
Also the Remington 870 uses special ammunition right? It doesn't make a ton of sense that you couldn't use 1885(?) shells in it (unless they're different sizes) they are both 12 gauge shotguns aside.
Wish it wasn't always nighttime when I play. Its fun when I find a small group to follow for a bit, but then I end up dying and losing everyone and spawn in the middle of nowhere.
Respawn and finally found a city to start in.
I noticed that after it dumps me back to the server browser it says in the background "Waiting for character to create"
Any ideas yet? I'd really like to play. D:
It's always day time for me when I play.![]()
Doesn't matter if I play at 2AM or 2PM, every time why!
