    Hi
    I'm trying to use the JQUERY-UI combo-box:
    http://jqueryui.com/demos/autocomplete/#combobox
    And it works fine, however there is something I need to do which i'm clueless about - I want to update the selected value in the combo-box from outside the selection (click on a value in a table in my case), with a standard HTML combo-box I did something like that:
    Code:
    col = document.getElementById(col);
    col.namedItem(val).selected=true
    Which works fine.
    But with the JQ-UI it doesn't update the value in the input box since it displays a different value.
    If anyone have any idea how I can update it I would love to hear it.
    I've also tried to destroy the combo-box and rebuild them but I'm getting the following error when calling destroy:
    Code:
    Error: this.wrapper is undefined
    I'm pretty new to web development so please be gentle :)

    p.s - I'm talking about the example given in the JQUERY-UI website...

    Hi
    Here is an HTML that seems to work in someone else example:
    Code:
    	<head>
    		<script src="JS/jquery.min.1.7.2.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    		<link rel="stylesheet" href="jquery-ui-1.8.20.custom.css" type="text/css" />
    		<script src="JS/jquery-ui-1.8.20.custom.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

    	<script>
    	(function( $ ) {
    		$.widget( "ui.combobox", {
    			_create: function() {
    				var input,
    					self = this,
    					select = this.element.hide(),
    					selected = select.children( ":selected" ),
    					value = selected.val() ? selected.text() : "",
    					wrapper = $( "<span>" )
    						.addClass( "ui-combobox" )
    						.insertAfter( select );

    				input = $( "<input>" )
    					.appendTo( wrapper )
    					.val( value )
    					.addClass( "ui-state-default" )
    					.autocomplete({
    						delay: 0,

    							response( select.children( "option" ).map(function() {

    								if ( this.value && ( !request.term || matcher.test(text) ) )

    <a href="#" id="clicky">set the value to "Java"</a>?
    You can see the example here:
    http://jsfiddle.net/BbWza/2/
    However in my code i'm getting (on firefox 12):
    Code:
    this.input is undefined
    Coming from here:
    Code:
    autocomplete : function(value) {
       this.element.val(value);
       this.input.val(value);
    },
    I'm losing it :(

    Hi,

    i run into the same problem as you, but this thread lead me to the resolution, that i will share with you.

    You must add this to your line of code:

    Before:
    input = $( "<input>" )

    After:
    input = this.input = $( "<input>" )

    Hope it helped.
    Thx
