Finally the trailer gets released. This Bond looks pretty good, but I already have an issue:

Q- This has been mentioned already that Q should be played by an older actor. Since I haven't seen the actor's previous work nor have I seen his version of Q, I am reserving my judgement. A bit.

normally bond girls have that very slim figure, it represents the whole damsel in distress thing.

i mean the girls look like they can handle themselves normally but they're thrown into this wild situation most of the time and almost all bond girls end up getting into trouble one way or another.

it's a subconscious thing. a pretty little thing can be deadly but because of her size she's still vulnerable and clearly extremely feminine.

basically what i'm trying to say is a smaller frame is preferable on a bond girl for many different reasons

bond girls need to be skinny to subconsciously cater to the whole damsel in distress theme that eventually permeates every bond movie.

    in the mind:
Skinny=frail=can't protect herself or at least not well enough to need help from some dashing british looker
Big=strong=could probably do without bond just fine

I really don't like Craig as Bond. Maybe it's just because I'm used to Connery. He's a bit more bearable when I think the theory that James Bond is nothing but a code name is true.

The thing about the new bond is that it can't possible ruin the franchise because its not changing the older films in anyway, its far better for Craig to be the way he is rather than being another clone of the movie stereotype smooth action hero. Its important the film series doesn't stagnate or else each film will end up looking like a parody of the original ones.

As for the idea that that the woman should be skinny thats just ridiculous and pretty sexist, regardless of the reason you put behind.

I don't get how people don't understand the theme of the reboot anyway.

In casino royale (which was very well made), he's a rookie 00, recruited straight out of the SAS. The whole point of that film is to see bond before he finds his groove, he's rough around the edges, brash, arrogant and gets emotionally attached to the situation. He fucks up several times throughout the film badly. The Vesper character was pivotal in this because it's her betrayal and death that shapes what he becomes.

Quantum of Solace (yes it's a shit movie, there is no argument there, but keep in mind it was made during the writers strike, it was the director and craig literally attempting to write things as they went along) takes place directly after CR. I just like to pretend this film doesn't exist.

1 hit, 1 miss. I'd say wait until Skyfall comes out before you start deriding this reboot.

    Edited:

Each person who played Bond took a different direction. People struggle to accept differences and can't get over it.

Ian Fleming only managed to see Dr No, and he hated it. It's clear he thought Connery was a vast mis-interpretation.

Therefore there is no "right" Bond here. That being said, Dan is the man.

Pierce was pretty much himself in his movies, watch The Thomas Crown Affair if you don't believe me.

Spot on, Bond is played pretty differently from version to version.

I think that Craig is the best Bond so far, but that is probably because I much prefer the dark and gritty style of his Bond.

craig is the best bond because he's the most realistic.

now when i watch any other bond film besides casino royale it feels cheesy like it's known it's jumped the shark and gets pretty fucking ridiculous.

craig's performance is tangible, it's human. it feels a lot more like he's what he is, a highly trained wetworking goon with incredible talent, who's also extremely swanky at the same time.

all the other bonds were caricatures of this giant big brass balls superman except dalton. but dalton imo kinda sucked so he didn't get it right the first time around.

As for the idea that that the woman should be skinny thats just ridiculous and pretty sexist, regardless of the reason you put behind.
sexist? fuck yes! ridiculous, fuck no.

the male and female psyche have been conditioned for thousands of years by other people to influence their minds in many ways.

it's subconscious for most, so don't get all up in my shit because you don't agree. it's not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of a fact about an opinion.

M's name is revealed in Casino Royale, when Bond breaks into her house you can briefly see her name on a sheet of paper.
I need to rewatch Casino Royal then.

We may find out what M's full name is in Skyfall, the film is about her past. Bonds trying to save her through out this film.

    DB5

    hell yes.

    Edited:

    Potential ending spoilers too.

Skyfall is actually the name of a house/lodge - Skyfall Lodge - That is owned by Bond and it is rumoured to be where the film will end. Possibly a big showdown between him and Silva?

god he looks so much like an official hired thug. it's that blank stare craig does.

i don't think any other bond had a 1000 yard stare, or at least one anywhere as good as his.

it certainly rival's christian bale's intense thousand yard stare, for which anyone who's seen american psycho knows what look i'm talking about (when he looks at paul allen's card, when he's taking off his face mask film cream stuff after his shower).

it's so great because that's exactly what he is. not this flamboyant international man of mystery (even though he still kinda is).

The phrase "the sky is falling" triggered an attack on an MI6 office. All the agents were killed.

It doesn't break the point of the character ffs. I don't know how many times I've had to shoot this line of thinking down in this forum.

The almost cartoon like cardboard cutout character you seen for 20 or so films is not what the original character, as wrote by ian fleming is intended to be. Dalton attempted a darker more accurate portrayal of bond before, as much as he could with in the confines of studio pressures, but Craig is easily the most accurate bond so far.

This is just like when we had that thread of people crying like bitches because the dumb martini drink schtick was going to be axed. Martinis were never a staple of the Ian Fleming novels, he actually drank whiskey more often.

He's a government employed professional killer, of course he's supposed to be cold and calculated.

I can't be the only one who thinks Bond is better played as more or less a driven sociopath.
I never had a problem with them scrapping the idea, but replacing it with Heineken? It's not right to me.

I quite like the idea that 007 is only a code name, passed on from agent to agent. Thats why we can go from Pierce Brosan pulling off cheesy one liners to Daniel Craig smashing a guys face into a sink in Casino Royale.
