Looks too strange with floaty hands

oh I thought it was just some weird animation WIP thing I get it now

It's a reference to worms 3d and I already made animations with the soldiers arms. I also didn't bother creating the actual hands of the worms, it's still the soldier.

I think it needs to be more rounded at the base so it doesn't just look like his hands have been chopped off.

I think the ring around the lenses needs to be pulled in a tad and I dont like the red of the lenses in comparision to the green of the main part of the head, perhaps try and use the idea blah had for the default pyro head and give the lens an env mask? i.e.:Update to my pilot mask. Texture feels like it needs more contrast.

Well firstly it's not green it's grey so I'll desaturate that a bit. I won't add an envmap as that would require an envmapmask which seems like overkill considering it already has an extra selfillumask for that little lightbulb, plus envmaps look bad. By pulled in do you mean made thinner (more like the Pyro's original eyes) or made thicker? The latter isn't really possible without making the Sight for Sore Eyes look strange and I'd prefer not to do the former as I'm trying to differentiate the eyes from the usual ones on purpose.

Ah good point they are considerably thicker than the original Pyros, I'll sort that. Any idea what would be a better colour for the lenses than that dark red? I quite liked the colour variation it added to the rather monochrome tones. The original Pyro eyes are that colour too btw so putting that shade of red next to the also sampled greyish green of the mask isn't that unusual.

The theme of the set is "Bad Cosplay"
When theming the set, I tried to make it so it wasn't strictly to one type of anime, that it was generic enough that it was more "Scout got invited by a cute girl to go to comicon what does he wear, right now!" rather than "scout is a moron dressing up as a poor man's cloud"
Scout even has a badly made cosplay version of his own scattergun, and hand drawn ninja stars made of out pieces of cardboard. He's not seriously trying to represent anime, this sort of "what would scout wear to comicon in an instant."

ComicCons have been held since the early 1970s. Even earlier, Sci-Fi book conventions date the 30s.
People have worn costumes at these conventions since the 40s.

Basically this idea came about through a discussion on anime and how if someone made an anime inspired item the entire workshop would knock over tables and whine at each other. These are anime inspired, but other than the eyes, are more leaning towards cheap costume at a lame 70s sci-fi convention, rather than a 5000 dollar Final Fantasy costume at Comicon 2012.
