Been using Google Navigation recently but the car charger I have, some cheap thing, doesn't have enough power to charge or even maintain a charge.
Only if I turn the screen off does it charge, and even then really slowly, I still get voice commands but I do need to see the route info as it at times can be late.
The charger I'm using outputs 500MaH, does anyone know of a more powerful one that would work? I'm in the UK if that makes a difference with car voltages ect.

You need a car charger that outputs 1A, that cheap one is most likely 400mA.

If you are rooted, try also capping the CPU frequency to something a little lower

Doubt it would help at all, the screen takes a lot of energy, same for the navigation with GPS/3G being used constantly for that purpouse.

Got a 1 amp car charger, originally for an HTC Wildfire but tested it out today on a 40 mile journey, gained 8% with full brightness.

I am just speaking from experience, I used to be a pizza delivery driver and used my phone as a GPS for all the deliveries every day.

The screen drains the most battery, CPU comes second. Just reduce brightness, turn up your volume (for navigation) and reduce your CPU whether it be from 1000MHz to 800MHz. Also downvolting helps a lot.
