Went to see if the next version of OGSE was released, rather disappointed it wasn't. 'Til I realised how substantial an update it will be; seems they successfully and completely rewrote enemy combat AI. I think i'm in love with them now.
Yeah, the video is extremley impressive. The only thing that kept me from getting it was the lack of the offline A-Life which, probably from having played with AMK for forever, is like a must to me now. But considering that they are planning on implemeniting that, along with the new combat AI, I'm probably gonna switch. Unless I can just copy the new AI over to AMK but unless its just a matter of copying files I don't know how to do that.

Side note: Does anyone know what the little blue house in the OGSE AI demonstration video meant? I was guessing it had something to do with it being a shelter from a blowout or a sheltered area that you can sleep in, but I wasn't sure.

Could just be a debug thing for smart terrains ( I haven't watched the video all the way through so I'm not sure)

Maybe, but it only showed up when he was in a fully enclosed area (the little part where Nimble's being held captive); if he was outside or in a room with holes leading to the outside it wouldn't show up

From what I've seen, there are multiple versions of AMK. Would be right to assume that http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-amk-retranslated is the best one?

    Edited:

Whoops that's a translation, bad reading on my part. Would I be right to assume that it is quality, though?

I edited the .ltx file of the desert eagle to allow it to use silencers.

I seriously did not expect that to work.

Yeah, one thing that I really dislike about it though is the complete lack of HUD. I'd like to at least see my health / stamina .

Either way, I'm really looking forward to when the creator adds the new maps and factions that he's been working on for a while now.

Got to the Garbage part where you help the stalkers against the bandit attack.

    Got killed a lot.

Said fuck it, switched to a guitar-only playthrough of People Soup to stream.

Rather annoying that Owl has only ever 10 rounds of Mosin ammo, yet 30 for NATO 7.62x51 in Misery.

Found some program that allows you to edit ironsights in-game, not sure if it's old news or what.

I was thinking about doing some texture editing for STALKER, how hard would it be to add little dots to the ironsights of a weapon? I was planning on giving all weapons tritium-illuminated sights that will actually glow or at least be seen in the dark.

AFAIK actually adding them would be a piece of cake, but having them glow would be much harder.

Reminds me of how Swartz tried to redo the tritium sights on the SIG-Sauer but it just ended up looking like ass.

I don't think weapons in Stalker have the texture maps necessary to actually make something glow or reflective.
That's true and I'm not blaming him for not being able to do it, just that the end result didn't look what he set out to do.

Hopefully Sergei's "more qualitative" STALKER would be able to do things like actual thermal scopes and glow-in-dark tritium sights (though the latter would be rather pointless because you'd need NV / flashlight to even see anything in the first place)

You would have to edit the mesh and make the parts that are supposed to glow a different 'shader'. (using the SDK's shader editor)

It doesn't support 1.0005, sadly. Only SoC 1.0004, SoC 1.0006, and CoP 1.6.02 (And only the R2/DX9 renderer)
I'll keep a lookout on the thread it came from though.
Although, why stick with 1.0005? 1.0006 is almost exactly the same singleplayer wise, I've never seen anything break with it.

Nope. It requires some hex editing it seems so I assume it must be a lot of work to find addresses for every version..

Text fuckups mainly, and it offers absolutely nothing for SP.
    I don't get why they'd support 04 but not 05.

And probably because for whatever reason a lot of the Russians use 1.0006 and 1.0004, I don't understand why really.

A lot of text with that patch seems to get dreadfully misaligned or oversized, no idea why. Might just be my resolution ratio; 5:4 seems to be unheard of in most of the world :/

Their tendency to melee at very close range can be somewhat of a liability; lost count of the times where them attempting to melee me saved me from the otherwise certain death that'd have come if they just used the bloody shotgun in their hands

I know it's to imitate peripheral vision... but that's just annoying. It's also really hard to use the magazine system when you don't have a HUD.

So, some info about the stream!
It's most likely going to be held during 11:00-14:00 GMT +2, 24-hour clock. I'll be streaming one or more of the following:

    - STALKERSOUP
    - Freelurk (Doom's Mod)
    - Clear Sky (pffffffffft unlikely but possible)
    - Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
    - Team Fortress 2
    - Blacklight: Retribution
    - Actraiser (SNES game)

    The stream is in here.
Assuming everything works just as planned, it'll be a 30-minute stream or at best 3 hours long if not even more. I can't really predict the length but there's a little something to start making your plans on, at least.
