So, after being around Facepunch and this forum a lot, it is pretty clear that everyone loves electronic music. Which this is not. Please, if you can, excuse any of my mistakes.

First song I ever wrote, something like a year ago:
Second song I ever wrote, likewise about a year ago:
A little jazz improvisation I did just recently:
My newest piece, Consolation in Eb Major:

Yes, I realize my piano is shitty and out of tune, but I just can't stand the action of an electronic keyboard. It's unlikely, but if anyone wants me to I can rerecord anything on my Fender Rhodes. By the way, it shouldn't matter much, but I am 14 and started playing piano about a year ago.

Wow your songs are really well structured and composed, I really like them, they sound SO creative!

It's great to see someone of the same age as my self creating music like this, people like you give me more inspiration to try even harder.

By the way, you could just buy kontakt and get a new york/berlin piano library for it because they're both resampled from a real piano, all you need is a DAW, Kontakt and the library (a good bit of money is required, but nothing's stopping you from finding them elsewhere).

Overall, fantastic work. Look forward to hearing more of your work in the future

Do you guys think I should record some of my more classical stuff, or more contemporary "weird" stuff?

It's just me fooling about, really. I picked 3 chords and played some notes. To me it's patterns, but there always has to be a variation of some kind. I know what scale the chords imply, so I know what notes to use. Any questions?

EDIT: Plus, I always had a base to return to, that F minor 7 with a 9th. That whole improvisation is based off 9, 11, and 13 notes in the right hand that modify the chords. The three chords I used were F minor 7th, G minor 7th, and Ab(flat) major 7th. Those 3 chords are the second, third, and fourth chords based on the scale degrees of the Eb major scale.

you've really improved since the last time i've heard your piano pieces, yet they are still very expressive. at 14 i was still playing Bach pieces with little of the expression you have.

You're one of the first people I've followed on soundcloud with pride whilst doing so, I'm really excited for your next piece, mate!

    Edited:

Fuck, your songs make me wonder why some of the shit in no.1 is at the top spot globally, yet hard worked melodic stuff like this is just a scratch of musical dust in a forum section related to music with a few people claiming they love your stuff.

i like the quotation from preludes by debussy. i would say the piece kind of drifts a bit towards the end, do you write this out before you play it?

I agree, it did drift towards the end, I usually write my pieces out but this one I didn't.

Your original pieces remind of Jon Brion's music, and that is a good thing!
I really like the sound of your piano, it has a bit of character compared to my digital piano.

    Please keep posting your stuff

I'm going away for a day or two, then I am getting the parts for my new computer which I plan to assemble as soon as they come. As soon as I get everything situated I will get my new piece uploaded.

EDIT: Incase anyone was wondering, I am going to see the Wall tour in DC with my dad, it's gonna be fucking awesome I hope.

Love your second song, absolutely love it it's so pure and so nice. The recording is great aswell, I adore hearing real pianos recorded, it sounds so atmospheric, so real.

Consdering you only started a year ago you're a million times better than I was after one year of playing, you're a much more dedicated pianist and has a natural talent. I've been playing for about 8 years, but I've been a slow learner.

Your music is awesome Spencer, keep it up, no matter what. You've got a great talent for it and anyone who disagrees can go fuck themselves. Good to see you on here bro.
