I am pretty sure this is in every game ever and it's called LODs
I am pretty sure this is in every game ever and it's called LODs
But aren't those only based on distance?
It was probably canned due to the introduction of broadband internet, which essentially made such technology redundant.
Edited:
Distance is only a factor in them.
Normally they're capped by the graphics settings and then controlled via distance.
L4D controls LODs based on number of zombies in the horde
TF2 REALLY needs that tech, seeing as how valve hasn't put lods on a lot of things and it just ends up being a 3 fps clusterfuck when 12 people on each side are close to each other.
TF2 already does that albeit to a much smaller extent (RTT shadows)
Oh god yes, tf2 is honestly badly optimized for those moments.
okay why does anyone even discuss this and why is it on the bloody category name? it should be Valve/Steam, not Valve/Steam/PowerPlay.
The joke. You might not be getting it.

Founded 7 years after the project was abandoned.
And the avatar was created in 2009.
It's probably nothing, though.
I heard they're releasing this with Richochet 2
Reading about Powerplay now is a lot like reading a science fiction book from the 1960s where it is 1992 and everyone has cool hovercars.
