Well guys, this is indeed farewell. I don't want to draw this out like Shakken/Insane516, so I'm just going to put a few reasons why I am dumping the EarthCraft project.
1. I don't have time for anything anymore. Weekends are my only computer time and I usually spend that time on things other than minecraft.
2. I have lost interest. This point has actually been true for a long time now, which is why I tried to switch to Towny. I was attempting to revive the game for me, but no dice. Minecraft has bored me, EarthCraft has bored me. The only reason the server has been up for as long as it has is for you guys. You've all probably noticed I never played anymore, this is why.
3. The server has had problems since it's inception and even after switching hosts. Lag still frequented the server in spikes, and I've tried to fix it, but even running vanilla on a different map produced lag (In hindsight, I probably should have done a complete reinstall).
4. We could never get enough players to utilize the world, we would need a server of 50+ players on daily for this to be used the way it was intended. Even then, nobody really built towns like they should in towny but rather they treated it like factions and wouldn't allow anybody but their friends to join. Towny is not a game of trust, you and all your enemies can have a town together and your precious items and builds would be safe.
That is really it, I don't want to give you some sappy bullshit of a post by saying how this amazingly great server is officially dead (I'll tell you right now, this server is a shit execution of a great idea).
Thanks to all that played, I had some fun. If anybody wants to continue this project with their own server, contact me and we'll work something out. I can give all the necessary things out.
Alternatively, if nobody contacts me about it, I'll post a download of the map later. It'll be a reset map, but it'll have all the biomes and whatnot.

What do you mean? Only having farms above ground was a lovely idea. Towny was just a small bump in the road. Map wipe was the shit. Climate change was a wonderful idea.

It never died, it was always played, people have had less time (school/work), and I just dumped the idea.
I'm glad it's over now, minecraft is a pretty bad game in hindsight.
