I'm a very disorganized person, so planning ahead is usually agonizing for me.
So, recently, I decided to sit my ass down and create a simple system for myself that makes it easy to create a rough blueprint.
It really is just a key with different colors and assets I can use.

To demonstrate, I just spent 10 minutes to create this blueprint of a small Attack/Defend map.

I just wanted to ask whether or not anyone else has created something like this for themselves, as well as how much success I will have over my past self now that I have become more organized.

I didn't make a blueprint before but I made a sort of blue print of my map almost complete:

Yours does look very organised, I can see it will be quite easy to follow. :)

When bored I like to draw out map layouts for my mod, although they never end up being used.

Wow, all of your blueprints put my pencil and paper sketches to shame. I think I'm going to start making more organized blueprints similar to yours from now on to promote better workflow.

I tend to rely on ink...it flows a lot better than mouse.

Bit blurry, but you get the idea.

I tend to rely on making it up as I go along. Which never ends well as I have absolutely no imagination or creativity.

Maybe if I used blueprints, I could get more mapping done.

I doodle sketches of the general layout of the map, but i always end up changing stuff. Never been really good at following my own blueprints.

I tried to recreate the Blueprint and I didn't know how far down "Lower" and how high "Higher" is and the stairs aren't a consistent length

The actual architecture isn't restricted entirely to the plan, so it's best to just use knowledge of how it will work ingame to scale it appropriately.
Also, I went ahead and tried to make an actual map from my example, but got carried away and started adding a bunch of crap.
