He got it spot on with the original review, as much as everyone hates to admit it.
Even I hate to admit it.
It makes me sad that such a great idea like minecraft matures into a full game so slowly.
Yeah I never understood why Notch never hired a real artist to make Minecraft look like an acceptable game with his millions of dollars.
If the graphics were fine as they were then every single person wouldn't use texture packs.
Am I supposed to know who this is?
I listened to him drone on for like 5 minutes and got bored.
minecraft is pretty terrible now
lost interest in minecraft when enchantments came out.
Minecraft was nice and simple. Eat, sleep, survive. Ever since Notch added dragons and magic related items, I lost interest. But Jeb is slowly trying to get away from all that. So I'll wait until Minecraft has more survival addons to it to play it again. Mods do help though.
seriously though rockcock64 was really on the money with the review,it was probably the most unbiased and fairest review for any game I've seen in a long time, and I know everyone who saw it and said it was crap or he was jealous, any lame excuse to defend their fanboyism knew deep down it was truth.
my little brother plays this fucking shit every single day for hours on end and never shuts up about it
he even made my grandmother buy him those retarded foam "8-bit" pick-axe and sword things run around the house with and hit stuff/people. he took the pick-axe with him to school one day for some reason
it's incredibly annoying and embarrassing
Minecraft was great at the beginning because of how simple and bare it was.
You mined, found things, and tried to survive.
It got bored after a while, and nothing Notch did anything to help after the Alpha.
After you found out how to craft everything and there was nothing to explore and the game lost all its original interest. That is why it was good at first and why it will never be good again no matter how much you add.
Minecraft singleplayer has always been impressively dull after the first few times. Mods help, but I tried playing with Tekkit and it just felt like regular survival mineraft except I was progressing at a much slower rate. Unless you have a goal or mods, there's no reason to play minecraft singleplayer after your first time.
Multiplayer can be fun, but 9 times out of 10 the server you pick will be crawling with 12 year old fanboys. Which is great if you're a 12 year old fanboy I guess. The servers on FP are pretty good, mind you.
I left Minecraft something like a year ago when Notch, after many delays, was promising he was almost ready to release the mod API
I came back to it and they still haven't fucking released it, I couldn't fucking believe it
I only enjoyed making buildings with people online, making Capitol Hill, The White House and Minas Tirith with 30 other people all together was great fun.
I'm sort of fine with magic and dragons, etc as long as it was kept to a minimum. Now there's so few survival parts of the game besides build a dirt hut and make a bed and the next level is redstone magic. There are so many mods for the game like zipline or zeppelin that Notch could pay the mod developers to have it put in the game to add to the experience to actually make it fun, but then he goes and adds the goddamn The End and throws out the Sky Dimension people were always waiting for.
I think at this point Vanilla Minecraft is basically lying on a hospital bed with seven forms of cancer. I really do think that mods/modding API/giving power to the community is this game's last hope.
What was that other voxel survival game that had proper enemies and a combat system?
The game was so fucking great during the pre-alpha stages, but then he started to add so many unfinished features/Not finishing those he had aleredy started on... If only Jeb would stop all new features he is planning to make, but start finishing up the ones left behind from way back, I could probably start playing it again
That open-endedness was the games downfall. Everyone had their own concept of what the final product would be rattling around in their heads. Because of that the game could never compete with peoples own imaginations. Notch tried to appease the masses by pulling in as many ideas as he could, but all that accomplished was making the game incoherent and incompletable.
In other words, he shouldn't have released the game until it was fucking finished.
wtf more than one person worked on these garbage vides? terrible.
What's the original video? Can't find any link.
people don't seem to realize that tbg's reviews are incredibly popular (even if people watch it just to cry about their oh so loved game) and get them boats of money
and the minecraft review was an exception, he was ooc and pretty much all of his points are valid in a fundamental level
and some shit notch did was simply stupid. back when he added a tp selector there was a contest to include a fanmade texture pack in the vanilla game. where did that go? back then notch said he had a full api ready and only had to work out the legal details? so, what happened to it? halloween update, this will make minecraft awesome and incredible and add loads of content! oh sorry guys some stuff i promised wont make it in (roughly 80% of it). bros dont worry adventure update will make combat awesome and incredible and add 457% more content (oops not really though). halfblocks are a FUCKING JOKE - they're a full block, except a part of it is invisible. that shit implementation has led to massive amounts of bugs on every block that isnt a full block, like stairs and shit, and theyre still present to this day, and the team wont get off their fat asses and remake the whole system. see redpower2's block cutting system (jump to cutting recipes) to see how amazing it is, how amazing it could be, and why notch's laziness made a mod that good and deep be bottlenecked
notch is a retard, his idea on improving on top of infiniminer was just really good, the rest of his ideas are retarded
jeb is closer to the right path, but still fails to realize that the mod api should be the #1 priority. the mod community has made so much content that adds purpose to the game and shit to do after you get some gear. once he does that the responsability of adding
ive played minecraft on and off ever since infdev and i cant play it for more than 3 hours. its clear its lacking in several important aspects, but the devs are busy adding amazing features like placing stairs on the ceiling and horizontal logs. and the worst part: the community not only accepts those features with open arms but is also grateful for them
i dont see minecraft changing any time soon
