Hey, FP, i've been wanting to play this one in a long while. It's a classic Jazz standard piece written by Mal Waldron, hope it's to your liking. Would love your comments and feedback, it's the second thing i've recorded and hope to take my time for a few more. Tried as well to mix the quality of the sax a bit better...my mic is a terrible 10-15 dollar cheap one and makes it very hard to get the cleanest of sounds. The improvisation kicks in at 1:28, let me know what you think!

I love jazz standards, and I love this. Your sax playing is good, although hitting some of the notes more exactly on could use a bit of work. I'm no sax player, I play piano, so if that suggestion seems unrealistic by all means ignore it. I really like your improvisation as well, how long have you been playing sax?

About 4-5 years, thanks for the feedback! The suggestion is not unrealistic at all but an element i understand that comes to play heavily in Jazz is spontaneity and I try to implement that while soloing. It gives quite a different feel. Basic Jazz theory have some aspects which adds just that (like approaching a note earlier or holding yourself just slightly before the release) and i implement it while playing. Pretty sure i missed a lick or two i tried to figure out in my head but i also got my wisdom teeth taken out a week ago, i recorded this yesterday, a day after i got my stitches removed...not feeling full control of my tone yet, a bit uncomfortable playing...hurts a bit at points if i try to force myself to play solidly xD
appreciate the feedback a lot, get some piano vids up!!!

Really nice, the improv is for the most part really solid! There is the occasional point where it sounds like you maybe slipped, but if that's not the case then you just need to make sure that what you play sounds really deliberate.
There are some occasional tuning issues and something sounds a little off sometimes when you cross the break but I'd probably chalk those up to the wisdom teeth thing and that it can be quite difficult to maintain tuning with a recording (especially with headphones). It's hard to comment too much on tone because as you mentioned, the mic isn't amazing, but from what the mic does pick up it sounds good!
Personally I would throw a little more vibrato into the mix but that's just me!

Thanks, man, I'll be sure to warm up and try run the piece a few times before actually recording it, I bet that will help out a lot. I was a bit desperate I couldn't play during that whole week that I ran it in the first take, probably will have something up soon!

Thanks, one of the things i've worked more on. They seemed impossible at first...decided to find the perfect shape for them. Would love to hear some trumpet!

It's nice but feels a teeny bit empty at times, like breaks where there shouldn't be and coming in on strange notes when you do start. That's mostly nearly the beginning, though, and it improves massively throughout.
Get a better mic, I love this!
