missiles and boarding crews errywhere
This game has no business being this fun, I panic at my crew getting killed or at systems taking direct hits, that feeling when one-hit-disable on the O2 systems.
Is there anyway to change resolution, though?
It's a pixel-drawn game. It's only made in one resolution as a result. Any scaling (that isn't by the power of 2 will make it look like shit).
And the crew is pretty small in size so you can't really downsize it without ruining it, and the next upscale would require a screen with a resolution of 2560x1440.
Thus it gives you the option to fullscreen with blackborders to fill in that space, or make it blurry by just upscaling it unproportionally.

Gues, you can't actually disagree with this. I'm stating objective facts about the limitations of the graphics and choice of solution the developers have made. Adjusting the placement of the HUD and showing more background is a solution to work around it with bigger resolutions, yes, but that doesn't adjust the resolution of the game, nor does it show more than it already does with black borders.
Heeeelp me, I've been playing this non-stop for hours.
Edited:
you can still raise the resolution, just have the ship centred and the HUD elements fixed in their respective corners.
Well yeah, but then the HUD would more spread causing it to be more annoying to work with since the buttons doesn't scale.
You would also just replace the black borders with boring imagery that doesn't help in any way. Essentially no real difference.
It would make the graphics a lot more sharp though, It doesn't look too great on a 1080p display.
Edited:
I feel sorry for the people with a 1440/1600p display.
Use black borders instead. Keeps it sharp and it's not like that black space would be filled with anything useful in the first place.
I agree that it would be nice with a proper 1080p resolution for the game though, don't get me wrong.
Oh sure, I know what you mean. Just number wise the difference between 720p and 1080p isn't that great. I don't think the interface would look too bad spaced out.
If the background artwork filled the whole screen and the rest were centred that wouldn't be too bad either.
Love this game and all but I can't help but feel it could be so much more.
Has it been confirmed that the devs will indeed be expanding it?
I wished there was the option to have a lot more crew members, a way to have massive boarding parties.
That feeling when you destroy an enemy ship the moment he destroys yours.
piece of shit, my oxy reached zero with all crewmembers in the medbay, stuck with 4-10 health each, no way of fixing the thing.
always upgrade your medbay kids
I made it to the final boss on my first try but holy fuck how the hell are you guys even getting past his first stage, it's like trying to clean a monster truck with just a toothbrush god damn
Mantis people fuck my shit up.
Someone should make a proper FTL megathread
They're ok if they just beam over two people in your ship, and get to your medbay.
But if they destroy all your shit before targeting the medbay, or send over 4 of those motherfuckers...
Well, you're shitfaced.
I think I had trouble because I had too many crew members and they jacked one up while I was distracted firing my missiles. Also I had 3 guys storm my ship in a random encounter and they wrecked my whole ship before I could kill them. It was pretty scary.
Yeah... I thought about doing it, but I'd prefer someone else to.![]()
I love this game so much.
I wonder if you'll ever be able to create your own ship.
That would make the game even more awesome.
I want a start trek-esque free mode as well as the ability to create custom ships, now that would be the cherry on top that this game imo currently needs.
If I don't get my account back after the 10% off ends then I guess I'll just buy it off there.
A multiplayer minigame would be nice, only allowing ships that survived the final boss or something.
Everything is going great, then suddenly all of your shit gets trashed in one battle
Every time
See I thought it'd be great to go around in a ship called the Normandy SR1 with a crew consisting of Kaidan, Ashley and Jeff.
It was all going well until a Mantis or whatever went batshit inside my ship when I was trying to sell it to pirates or something like that and ruined my hull.
Next battle enemy ship ruins my shields and a little combat drone zapped my hull into pieces.
I'm never going to name my things after Mass Effect ever again.
Very often in cheap ways (3 shield or one of those fucking green ones that block missiles, or four burst blasters that fuck all of my systems up in a single turn)
Also when you have enough scrap you NEVER find a store that sells the shit you want
Fully upgraded doors FTW. Just expose the bastards to vacuum then finish them off hand to hand.
Fuck missiles, they're the worst thing ever. Completely worthless when you're up against any guy with a drone that shoots them down.
Never heard about this until a guy I'm subscribed to comes back from like a month hiatus to post a bunch of videos of this game.
Apparently it's (somewhat) popular how did this go completely under my radar what did I miss?
And more importantly is this any good? A guy I'm friends with on Steam already put up a review about it saying it sucks.
I may just fill my next ship with a tonne of Ion cannons and attack drones.
I usually just missile the shit out of the enemy shield system then wail on them with the burst laser, works perfectly unless the enemy has one of those fucking drones but that's not often for me.
Alright, made a thread in the GGD. Doesn't have much content but...
This game is surprisingly addicting. Already spent 9 hours on playing it.
Get shield and evasion if you want to survive with relative easy.
Probably add in some drones too for extra survivability. (Although I havne't had a drone system yet)
I always, always end up either missing with the missile, or hitting the shield twice with a laser only to miss with the third.
Got to the final boss, was getting molested but my shields were holding ok so I decided to just all out and send over my entire crew to fight. Went perfect until he warped away with them. :(
Did not see that coming.
Oh how I wish I could get this.
I have no money left after kickstarting Planetary Annihilation though :smith:
Picking up this gem ASAP.
Exactly. I was running around on Engi layout B (really interesting build BTW) which gives you all of 1 person. I maxed doors, locked the pilot in Helm, and opened every single other door on the ship and vented the atmo. I kept an anti-personnel drone around and 2 repair drones and we just kept on trucking.
i really love this game but no it does look like shit
just because it's "omg indie game must have pixel graphic?"
They certainly aren't the best looking sprites ever, but it's very solid.
It even looks good when played on a TV.
