I recently upgraded my CPU from a Q6600 to a i5-3470 and I'm loving it, however I do feel my GTX275 may be holding the system back a little.

Firstly, is it worth upgrading at the moment (with my budget), or sticking with what I have till the 700/8000 GPUs come out? I know the waiting game sucks, but I'm fine waiting one more generation.

Secondly, which of these cards would you recommend? (I have a budget of £120, and I play at 1920x1080. I am happy with overclocking myself)

560 ti is a decent enough card. AMD also offers respectable cards in that price range.

How readily can you save up a bit. Getting into the 660ti or 7950 range offers a notable boost in power.

I can afford a 660ti now, but sadly I have other things I need to spend money on, as gaming isn't my only hobby. I need to buy a set of tires for my pushbike at about £23 each (one of my tires is letting crap through, had a puncture the last two times i've ridden) amongst other stuff, so I just can't justify spending more than £140 on a graphics card at the moment.

If you're not having any problems with your GTX 275 then save up another £20 to get a Radeon HD 7870. Or save up £50 to get a 7950.

Based solely on your resolution, the GTX 560 ti is showing age and the 7850 1GB won't get the job done at higher resolutions.

As an owner of a 560 Ti, it is a pretty fast card and processing-wise can keep up with the current generation of games, but 1GB of video memory is not adequate anymore. Get a card with at least 2GB.

Thanks for your advice. I've decided to put £130 in my ISA and set it aside for the 700/8000 generation of cards and that means I can then have an increased budget and I should have enough to comfortably buy a 760ti/AMD equiv.

You likely won't be seeing a 760 ti until a year from now. But, you will likely get the current tech cards at a lower price once their replacements come out.

OP, you'd be better off with a 660ti with 1GB than a hypothetical 560ti with 2GB.

Yeah I realise that - but unless the 275 actually breaks I'm pretty sure I can manage with it's performance until then.
