Alright, I think it's about time to end this thing. I redid just about everything I did with Fraps (a few shots I didn't see the need to redo. Actually I'm just lazy.) and gave it a real, bona fide ending to put a lid on the series for good. I also added three new songs for this new ending, as well as a credits sequence where all of the songs and voices I used are listed. All in all, it clocks in at around 32 minutes. Hopefully my hard work will have paid off, and you guys will enjoy it :)

Rapidshare (DivX high quality)

For those that don't already know, this film is basically just an alternate progression of the story in Half Life 2. Instead of Gordon Freeman kicking ass, zombies overrun the Combine controlled Earth. When it comes to Garry's Mod movies, it doesn't get much more apocalyptic than this.

So, download, rate, and enjoy!

Alyx's voice on the radio towards the end is haunting.

I know you put the songs in the credits, but which one of the songs is the one that plays towards the end? Where the camera is ascending the Citadel, and then we see a sweeping view of City 17 from the top of the Citadel?

Glad everyone's enjoying it so far. I actually forgot to list the song I used on the wide shot of City 17 - it's The End, by Harry Gregson-Williams, off the Man on Fire soundtrack. And with the dont_buff_my_pylon, I'm just kind of forgetful that way :P

Also, something I forgot to mention - because of the quirkiness of the Source Recorder, every single sound you hear was added by me in post. Yes, it was tedious, and yeah, it was annoying as hell :)

The songs kind of sounded like the instrumental band Explosions in the Sky.
I haven't gotton to the end yet so it may very well be them.
But yeah, they did the soundtrack for Friday Night Lights.

And most of the music is actually by Godspeed You Black Emporer - Explosions in the Sky is one of their side projects, so they sound similar.

I have been searching around for that song with all the combine attack the zombies with the gernade at one point. I don't know which of the songs in the credits is it! I have been downloading every single one but they don't sound like the one in that part. What song is it?

Thanks guys. And yeah, this pretty much is just the final version of it (but if you're curious, there's a good ten or fifteen minutes of never-before-seen stuff in there)

And the song used for the Highway 17 battle is the fourth movement of Blaise Bailey Finnegan III (you're probably not finding it because it's about twelve minutes into the song)

I don't know...if I didn't know the title I would have no clue what it was about. It was very cinematic and I give you props for making such a long video. It really wasn't as I expected. I felt like I was just watching a trailer to it. Maybe you could have gotten more of a story out of it or something.

No, the .gcf file - all of the files the Source engine uses are in those files, located in the SteamApps folder. I used GCFscape to extract specific speech files out of the source sounds .gcf.

And Xendrid, I would've given it a story if I had the technical know-how, with Face Poser and all that. But, alas, I don't, so I figgered I'd give it nice images and hope they would speak for themselves :P

You have perfect potential to make a great story. Also...

I hope these help. I learned how to use face poser fast within 30 minutes. Very simple once you get past that part of fear you have when you see all of the confusing mumbo jumbo. The hardest part is getting everything in sync. It tells you how to do that too.

I looked into those Faceposer tutorials, and you're right it's a lot easier than I thought. I did the lip synching for the music video I'm doing this afternoon, now I'm just going to add the gestures and expressions before doing the whole thing (the song is I Know Tomorrow is a Better Day. Yeah, I know it's been done already, but I'm in love with Poets of the Fall, so sue me)

Hey guys. Figure it's about time for a progress report on what I've been doing. This is a thirty second clip from the music video I was talking about doing (don't crucify me for the lip synching, it's my first time using Face Poser)

And the last two shots look like shit because it's just some stock footage I shot when I was just starting out making movies. I don't know if I'm going to finish the entire thing - I may have bit off more than I can chew with a five minute long song :)

Whoops, take a break for a couple days and all these people watch my movie :)

Thanks guys, I'm glad you all enjoyed it.

With the soundtrack, the current version I have now is the old one - it doesn't have any of the new additions. Plus my internet is sucking and uploading things has been an exercise in patience and self control, not to mention I've been working on a HL2 single player mod that makes the campaign more cinematic... and once I start on something, I obsessively work on it 'till I'm done, then drop it and forget it for a few months :)

Expect the old soundtrack up in a little while.

Oh yeah, Xanatos - with the camera movements I just put the prop cam on sliders, with the effects I just did them in Adobe Premiere.

Edit:

Hey guys, the soundtrack is uploaded and ready for your listening pleasure. Since much of the music contained in this version of the movie is not included, I'm just going to call this music in the same vein as Zompocalypse Now - just queue the music up, close your eyes, and lose yourself in an apocalyptic dreamscape.

Track listing:
Track 1 - The Black Amnesias (5:09)
Original song by Hope of the States, contains Breen's "Instinct" speech.

Track 2 - The Dead Flag Blues (6:48)
Original song by Godspeed You Black Emporer, contains the opening G-Man speech, as well as the unknown Radio Transmissions (what I call the cluster-fuck of voices you hear towards the middle of Part 1)

Track 3 - Ravenholm Suite (4:11)
Begins with a track from the Half Life 2 soundtrack, and segueways into the third movement of Blaise Bailey Finnegan III by Godspeed You Black Emporer. Contains Alyx talking about Ravenholm, as well as a few of Gregory's prayers.

Track 4 - Ravenholm in Mourning (0:37)
A track from the Half Life 2 soundtrack, beginning with Gregory's farewell.

Track 5 - Ars Apocalyptica, Bled Through the Cracks of Highway 17 (14:57)
Begins with the second, third and fourth movements of the Godspeed You Black Emporer song Moya, along with a few more of Gregory's prayers. Segueways into the last three movements of Blaise Bailey Finnegan III, closing with a final address from Gregory.

Six tracks aren't included - the two tracks from the Nova Prospekt scene (the first few seconds of motherfucker=redeemer by Godspeed You Black Emporer and the last few minutes of Staying Alive by Cursive) and the songs used for the finale (Hand of Fate from the Signs soundtrack, composed by James Newton Howard, The End by Harry Gregson-Williams, Protect Life by Eric Serra, and His Name was Michael by Jeff Beal)

http://files.filefront.com/Soundtrac.../fileinfo.html

Enjoy!

Oh yeah, a lot of people complain about the lack of plot/point (I'm not going to argue, they kind of have a point :P)

But, I think it's about time I suggested this...

If you can correctly interpret the point (or message) of this movie, you get a cookie!

Truley beautiful in the mind of an artist. Sad and depressing, yet calming and makes me look at things in a different way. I wish to make something to that effect. Then you went and made this. I feel slightly irritated towards you, yet i thank you for making me realize that it is possible to create such an art within my reach. Forgive my awkward speech-like response, but the movie just put me in that mind set where i just can't help but depress my thoughts. I again thank you for this, and i would like to get in touch with you for various things via email, PM, messenger, or ventrillo.

Abundance of rope and swarms of zombies probably helped things along :) And I guess what you see in Black Mesa East is what's going on after the hordes have moved on.

And I am making the sequel to this one, this time zombifying Episode 1.
