Lite vs. FULL?
Well, the Lite version is only 4mb to download BUT it downloads around 1.4GB (1400MB) of data before the dedicated server is usable, as opposed to the 600MB FULL version will save you UP TO a little over 50% the time depending of course on your internet connection speed.

FYI: None of the source code to this package was from armpit or whoever he is who created the Batch File based dedicated server setup tool. This was created from scratch, but uses a very similar method.

Oh, when it comes to the servers vs download speeds, the host for the installer is MediaFire which generally have a good download speed, and Valve servers are thought to have a really really good download speed as they are servers funded by retail products.

So you may or may not find that doing the lite version is faster than the full, but it all depends on you speed as well. It is a complex equation, that I do not wish to draw a diagram for at this time, but I will continue to offer both the Lite and FULL for your conveniences.

yes well on the lite version i am about half way though downloading hl2 models wich took about 1 and a half hours. Could i copy/paste the data into the folders?

if you copy %programfiles%\Garry's Mod Dedicated Server it should bring you to the right place because %programfiles% is a link to C:\Program Files for you and for me it would be H:\Program Files and for who ever else whatever it may be for them as well.

In the command line, use -console. Also, another good server restart program besides restart.bat is ServerDoc. I use it all the time, and I love it.

Does this mean that when you download it, if you don't own a game like DoD: Source you can still use the weapons and content?

Many anti-virus programs will be picking this up as a virus. AVG does it too. It's a pain in the ass but I assure you that it is not malware.

You need DoD: Source as a client to use it. Having the content available on the server will allow people with DoD: Source content to use it. It is keeping all the doors open. I did not support The Ship or Sin, because Garry's Mod as of now has no native support for it, and I wanted it to be a Garry's Mod 10 companion that required no addon searching.

armpit's Dedicated Server

Is there any way anyone can re-upload the full version? Me and my friend have to run our gmods in offline mode (we're behind a proxy) and I need this for a lan game as it gets really laggy with larger contraptions.


Your dedicated server installer looks great, but I can't really use it unless I want to sit in an internet cafe for ages to download all the files. (if this file was re-uploaded I could download it fine here)

Either way, you are downloading the same files, just different clients.

How do you change the game mode? sv_gamemode Spacebuild doesn't affect anything, even after restarting the server... Searched in the files for long enough, there is no documentation. ?...

Don't put stars.. I just did that to show you the 2 ways of setting a gamemode.. I use both just to make sure it works. Also restart map after you enter the commands.

When i try to Start my Dedicated Server and it doesn't show up my friend can't join...

and when i choose a Map is says

and it says that when i got it running...

Dedicated Server Installer (armpit's back for GM10!)

His is great if you want a site to download it all from at one time, but mine downloads the most recent version with all updates. Pretty much the same thing, mine is just the original and newer. There are no glitches when you install mine correctly.

I did a test to see what is better Armpits or This one
1st i downloaded armpits and ran the server with Phx,Wire
the ping for the server stayed around 150-200 and frame rate of 15
Then i deleted that server and ran one with this program
With Phx and Wire Just like i did last time
The ping for the server stayed at a shocking 50-100
and also the frame rate was 30 all the time
so after this test i say SourceAddict's dedicated server is better

The only difference is the way it downloads, and you will have to update his after the initial download.

Well... I agree with war_man333! It clearly does something our anti-virus software don't like!

It seems to me, that it exctracts a file called B2E.temp, which is a renamed .exe file...

Doesn't matter. The overall best way to install a dedicated server is to use a batch file and HLDSUpdateTool.

I have serious problems with Armpit making money off of his work (bollocks it's a donation, you have to PAY to remove the *FREE* thingy).

Simply put, boycott all these stupid auto-installers and INSTALL IT MANUALLY. How are you going to learn if you have everything made and spoon fed to you?

You have to use the srcds.exe in the folder where you installed this server... create a shortcut:

srcds.exe -game garrysmod

You can do the same thing that he just did but on your own. Oh, also, you need to use Port Forwarding, otherwise it will just come out as a LAN server :)

guys, i use this dedicated server program have many time but, many time ago it stopped working
like, (i guess it was orange box fault) when i click ''start server'', it starts the loading but, suddently, pop! the loading thing disappear, and no the server was not started
