    This is the Official 1.0.0 release of Garry's Bots!

    Gamemode Description:
    Build a robot, battle it out, and see which team has the better builders & fighters.

    There are WAY too many updates to list here, but here are some:

    Four menus (F1-4)
    Voteskip
    Explosion effect
    HUGE number of configuration variables
    MOTD
    Admin commands
    Post-Game Report
    Music during fight round
    And much much more..

    This includes:
    Garry's Bots 1.0.1
    gb_24arena
    gb_battle_arena_v2

    After 3 weeks of hard working and endless nights, craze and I have put together a gamemode that I believe is a success.

    For all those that said this would be unsuccessful, well, you just got kicked in the face.

    DOWNLOAD 1.0.1:


    All configuration variables are in config.lua..

    :siren:All gb_ maps have limits!:siren:
    For example, gb_24arena can hold up to 24 people. This is the best for BIG servers. gb_battle_arena_v2 can hold 24. Conflagration, of which is not posted here yet, can hold only 8.

    You must choose the right maps, or your server will crash!
    To add maps, just edit the mapcycle.txt.

    If you are going to be running a dedicated and/or 24/7 server, just post your IP, and I will put up a gamemonitor image and a link to directly connect to it!

    The map has a limit of 24 players, just so you know.

    Damn, you're quick. I already did it though.. You just overwrote our files. :lol:

    Edit:

    Also, I just uploaded a fix so that there are no propeller blades. Those things are EXTREMELY overpowered, and I suggest you download that fix if you are going to host.

    Edit:

    We just found some bugs, that were undetectable in Single Player.. We will upload 1.0.1 soon.

    EDIT: Sorry, my bad. A bit more detailed of a description would help though, took me forever to figure out that all props are breakable by default.

    BTW, I am using an unreleased admin mod and the rank system in conflicting with the gamemode. Instead of going on a team, the player's props are colored the same as their rank (team). Just in case you wanted to know. I figure not many admin mods will work along with this gamemode.

    I was playing in the official server for about 4 hours straight. Great fun. Seems much more balanced than previous versions and overall feels like a complete gamemode. Good job for making it in such little time.

    A couple things that get on my nerves though; Smaller wheels, being used as a way of movement, are useless. I don't know if they are colliding with what they are placed on or the weight of the prop they're placed on is damaging them. Or if it's a mapping issue for when they spawn in the ring, but they seem to go out way too fast. I end up using as many wheels as I can that will fit on the side of my bot just so they don't break off. Well that works fine but still annoying.
    The other thing is... the props don't quite seem balanced enough. Their health. I don't know if it's based on the props weight with a maximum of 500, but the smaller props that can be used as weapons have hardly any health. The metal hook has like 35, and harpoon just as much. They die in one attack. (This isn't taking into account any of the phx props, but those don't look cool enough to be weapons anyway.) This leaves larger, bulkier props to be weapons. blah blah blah

    I'm sure you've thought of most of this already and have solutions in the making, still a great gamemode, I plan to play more long hours real soon, have a nice day/night.

    Bug: Create this on listen server then disconnect and then make again = Crash to windows. Also: changelevel command crashes gmod with this gamemode. (Not sure)

    Did my sincere, thought-out feedback go unnoticed or is it being ignored because of a useless rating system? :|

    I would appreciate it if somebody at least acknowledged, confirmed, or even denied the problems that I listed and described. Tell me if I should stop expecting any sort of professional-like behavior out of the Garry's Bots team or if I'm just wasting my time. If I'm wasting my time I'll go right ahead and not give anymore feedback.

    I read it. Prop health is still dynamic, it uses some weird combination of BB size and mass, to be honest, I just fucked with it till it was balanced. So, smaller, lighter things, have less health, meaning those small wheels, have less health. Also, they have less mass, which kinda causes em to not hold anything up for shit and slide up the side of your bot and do nothing. Also, the collision models on the PHX wheels really, really, suck. They go through the floor constantly and shit, watch out for that too. Hm, I'm pretty sure self and team damage is off. And, try to use stronger things, a prop's health can be checked by looking at it and pressing e, or looking at it and pushing the button in the F3 drop down menu. Also, yes, prop health does clamp at 500, but it's adjustable in the config file. Hope this helps.

    They are autobanned, you could play with the prop banning settings in the config file, but big shit like that just ruins it IMHO.
