REQUIRES HL2:EP2 & GMOD10

How To Install The Beta

1. Download this file.

www.garrysmod.com/gmbeta/gmbeta2007.zip

2. Extract it to your SourceMods folder..

i.e. C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\

It should make the folder

C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\gmbeta2007

The folder will be empty(ish)

3. Download and install Tortoise SVN

http://tortoisesvn.net/downloads

4. Right click on the gmbeta2007 folder, and go to "SVN Update"

It should then update. It should just download gameinfo.txt and a load of spawnicons.

When you want to check for updates again, do the same thing again.

Very nice Garry, just one question: Will the spawn icons be pre-cached(can't think of the word?) again? Like, we don't have to wait for them to load.

I don't know, does it finish building the icons when you're playing the first time?

How many spawnicons has it generated?

How many does it have to generate?

Does it actually say "Generating Spawn Icon xxx" in the chat area?

If it doesn't, that means it isn't actually generating the spawn icon - and your computer is just really slow.

Hm.. I though if you had the icons already and it tries to update them, but it can't remove them to it makes some temporary files, so it must create new every time.

Try remove the folder and rebuild all spawnicons. It is rebuilding all of them already every time, you got nothing to lose.

Gmod '10' isn't in your SourceMods folder.

Could this mean non Gmod owners could try the beta? I have a friend that had it buy his account with it got VAC banned and his new account doesn't have gmod(yet.).

Updating, woo.

I'm going to pray to my god and hope that this won't crash on startup like the Orange Box games are currently doing.

(Yes, I have an old card. This GeForce4 MX 4000 has been with me forever, but of course there has to be a stopping point somewhere. Let's hope I get a new card soon. (Okay, I'm done, sorry for being offtopic. :P))

You can still play GMod fine when you're VAC banned provided the game you were VAC banned on wasn't GMod..

Not the way VAC works. If you get banned on CSS, you get banned from ALL source games. If you get banned on DoD:S, you get banned from ALL source games. Garrys Mod is different, it seems that it doesn't use VAC as a friend of mine can still play on every Garrys Mod server and he's banned.

Since GMod modifies the Source engine I think we'll get a hl2.exe too.

Who said that? Gmod 10 is still only mod for hl2 which uses SDK code. In steam version exe used only for launching steam.
