Well guys, I just downloaded the new sdk and I was reading through the SDKs, looking for edits and changes in the older games. Suddenly, I came across something extremely interesting in the Counter Strike Source FGD.

Could this mean a new game mode in the upcoming release in the source 2007 code?

tl;dr A new deathmatch style control point game mode. Most likely first version will be in a hospital map.

It looks like Death Match territory control. Not sure how well it will work out.

Are you talking about Counter-strike in general? or just source? You should try some of the servers that only play fun maps, I can last a whole day in those servers.

You should give it a go with fun maps in counter-strike 1.6.

Yeah. 1.6 is still awesome with those servers around. There are rarely any fun map servers in source.

It will be extremely interesting as to how this works out. Some hardcore fans may not accept the new mode, whereas a lot of 'returning' fans of the game will be likely to enjoy it, as it will offer a difference and change to the bland state in which many of us see CSS as at the moment.

1. It would be used more than the AWP, but then again it could be a $16000 weapon.


2. Funny since there's only 1 Machine Gun, the M249. I wouldn't mind an RPK, or even an M60.

They should do something where you can rob a bank or something as the terrorists and then take that money to a certain "drop off" point where you'd then be victorious. CT's have to stop them.

It'll be kinda like Rescue the hostages only with money instead of hostages :P

Since when did you conclude the fact that CS takes place in 1999? The game was released in 1999, that isn't the specific year. CSS was released in 2004. Does that make it 2004? No. It could be any other year.

Edit:

Did Quake III Arena take place in 1996? No.

I hope they add cinematic physics to the bomb explosions. Some of the stuff is nice, but would rock hard if say the building collapsed.

I like the stance that Valve are taking with Counter-Strike. They want to add a bit more variety from the boring M4A1 and AK-47 fights. I didn't think dynamic pricing was the way to do it but a new game mode might get my attention.

They should put that bank robbery gametype from Kane and Lynch in (that was just about the only good part in Kane and Lynch). Everyone's trying to rob a bank defended by NPCs, everyone gets a cut of the money at the end. Except you can betray your team at any time and try to take all the money for yourself. When you die you respawn as a SWAT team guy defending the bank.
That would be great in CSS.

Wait, you can actually respawn after a few ( 20? ) seconds like DoD: S. So it becomes like DoD: S in a futuristic setting?

CS was good for a while.
But now, it is stale.

COD is good because you can use cover really well, can shoot through walls, the environment is not not just a bunch of blocks.
