Mission plan:

Short Term Goals:
Basic ship parts in one style (three or so wing types, one set of corridors, a cargo and fighter bay, just enough parts to make a ship a few different ways) (Done.)
Connection system based around 'pegs' (like lego almost)

Medium Term plans:
Total premade ships (fully built ship ready to have LS and engines put on)
Premade Ship Hulls (internals not there, just the outside) (Working...)
Around a hundred ship 'parts' including hull sections, wings, weapon mounts, engine sections, bridges, internal corridors, bays, etc. (Sucessfully met.)

(potential) Future Ideas:
* Spawn 'panels' and auto-snap-together system for parts
* Pressurization for specially codes water maps
* A game-mode using the parts for ship construction based on a cost (global rp, but with only these parts)
* Toolgun for spawning items (Rough WIP)

What's the Username and Password for the SVN?

Currently reserved for the Dev team. (update)We're working on a public SVN at the moment and will update you as updates come.

Do i need addons to run this?
Yes, the modelpack will not crash your game/not work/kill your cat if you spawn a prop from the pack from the spawnmenu.
However, we recommend (strongly) that you install and use the following addons:

* Life Support Systems 2 SVN
* Resource Distribution 2
* SpaceBuild 2

These addons will enable our 'LS Ship Modules' and 'SBMP Weaponry' modules.

Lol, your mod sucks, you're going to take creativity out of ships, you suck, lol, lol, lol, lol, go away I'm scared of change and endorse PHX.
Well, we'll be sad to see you go. There are a few problems with PHX, which by no means we think was a bad idea. Most of these problems
fall to the following categories: laggy collision models, lazy modelling, and inefficient handling of props. In addition, PHX only adds the following:

* Plates (Straight) Small/Large
* Plates (Curved) Small/Large

In contrast, we add the following:
* Small and large scaled hullpieces.
* Connection pieces
* Prewindowed hulls
* Weaponry
* Resource Caches
* Styled ships and suggested designs

And that's just what we have at this time.

Though PHX is nice for creating structures which cannot be designed elsewise, the average PHX ship consists of 10-40 PXH plates, plus other laggy props,
and when you throw in the aforementioned problems with PHX, you have a server's worst nightmare. We intend on fixing PHX when or where, ever, the possibility arises.
But our time is limited and we've many props yet to do--help is encouraged.

This download has the same tab problem that ReaperSWE fixed in the SVN. Revision 324 anyways.

And I think that version is missing some of the life supported bridges as well. The only one that shows up in the tab is the doubledeck bridge.

Hell of a nice addon the teams made, i really was delighted with every SVN update i checked. One thing bothers me though.

I'm still having an issue with the spacebuild module section under life support. Even though i have rd2, ls2 and sb2 installed nothing shows up under the tabs. Is there a way to manually spawn the Lua coded parts like the weaponry and caches?

I think everyone will thoroughly enjoy Alpha 3, If you think this is good i'll give you all a hint of what is to come. (In the source folder (reserved for the Dev Team and testers) the size is roughly over 400MB :D that's a lot of spacebuild parts)

I thought of an idea. How about a thing you can place and that's where you spawn like you could put it on your ship so if you die you respawn on your ship not back at the planet you started at. That would be really helpful but I don't know if it's possible.

Sorry for off-topic-ness,

but those spawners can really be useful for SpaceBuild, I get killed almost all the time in outer space and then i need to make a small ''taxiflight'' to reach my ship.

hey i need help, i build a ship then go to space but because my Ls doesn't work i die, and i tried with the black hole cache(that worked before) and i still don't get air to breath, then i tried with the water works addon but i don't know how to make air and hydrogen with it, does someone know how to do that? and also does anyone know an another thing that create air?

From main GMod menu open the console.

Type in the console:

mat_dxlevel 90

GMod might hang for a few seconds. Then load up a map and try spawning the props.

So the air compressor doesn't work? That's odd maybe you should re-download life support. But I don't know you should ask the people who made it.

Yea, they should both work, but you got more chance of getting a corrupt download then getting corrupt files through SVN ;). And the SVN is a bit more up to date. I suggest to just redownload LS2 and RD2 and put those in. Chances are big that that will fix it (Addons folder).

You know, it would be interesting to just make the personal spawn point to something like a cryogenics chamber, sorta like you die then to re spawn you just jump out of a stasis pod on your ship. Just an idea to enhance the sci-fi feel of the mod i guess.

Also, this thread was created not so long ago, yet I'm not on the list *cries* you used my Daedalus model in the dam picture on steam community!!!

A new thread! Congradulations and many grats all around. And I have been credited!

Six months ago, if someone walked up to me and told me that there would be a mod that simplified Spacebuild like this, I would have thrown him/her(probably not her) into a trash can. They should Archive this model pack in the National Archives in Washington D.C. with the label Legendary Model Pack" or something similarly epic. Congratulations to all.

In english, that would say something akin to "Nuclear Power" or "Atomic Energy Generation". I like the second, myself, which is a direct translation. :)

There isn't many servers with this model pack, so can we make a server for this pack with a map that is large enough.

Also could you make some multi-level hulls. Because the ships look really really long, but not that thick.

I know this isn't the bug report thread but can someone help?

In the spacebuild gamemode(latest) I'm not seeing any contents of the tabs in life support is this normal because the tabs worked fine with the previous alpha.

Well done for getting so much done in such short time gonna be following this mod for a while.

Hey, I had a few ideas for some pieces to join double deck ships together. I made up some images in paint to illustrate.


This one is a connector piece that allows travel between decks, but also allows one to keep traveling on the same deck.



I got the idea for this off of the current split piece, only instead of going left and right it splits up and down.




Also, something I noticed is that the current doorway pieces aren't exactly effective for the lower deck (being inverted and all) so a new piece should probably be made for that.

I've got nothing in any of the Spacebuild Models sections, thought it was because I was using it in SpaceRP but I've tried Spacebuild and I can't get any of it no matter what I do.

I can, I just installed it in addons, and used spacebuild 2, I have tons of addons, INCLUDING the ones posted above, and have noticed no problems, AND PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SOMEONE MAKE AN AUTO SNAP ADDON!

For the record, I screwed up the spawnlists on release. We've released a new version which I'll be updating the main post with a link to.

My apologies.

To anyone experiencing the above problems, install this new version of the modelpack and your issue should immediately resolve.

ya i also have the same problem running a bunch of mods but i have the suggested mods and they have the menus in life support but no sub tools. even got the svn version of life support 2 and it didn't seem to make any difference. is there any known bugs using it with wire tools?

Firgof, you weren't supposed to put my jumper models in there either, for one, they have terrible textures, and one of them, I think B from memory, was supposed to have been deleted, because it was...

and by the way,we could use some models to connect the tubes to our space ships or stations. right now i can't really find any use the the tube parts

any chance of making starfleet objects that we can build custom star trek style ships such as shuttles and bigger ones like voyager or the enterprise?

That has been considered already and is, lets just say in the works.

Not specifically the ships but pieces, related to star trek. How far away these things are; you will need to ask somebody a little higher up, life Firgof or PJB.

Tried that a few times and the extra menu things still won't work. I've tried reinstalling LS2 and RD2 still doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Did you delete spacebuild modelpack, and install that again?

Reboot your computer. It worked for me.

About the modelpack. does anyone knows ehy it keeps happening to me that the rear end of my ship flies off?

You should make a really, really big ship that has a number pad that, if activated correctly, opens the glass case covering a button next to it.

Once that button is pushed, quarantine is issued, and Blast doors start closing in from the ceiling all over the ship, that can only be opened from the command room. Once all the doors have been closed, Zombies/Antlions or other kinds of evil things start spawning all over the ship, and you and a small group of other personnel/scientists have to escape somehow.

Also, a big beacon would go off, calling all other friendly ships to help (clientside only).

I just think that would be really cool for a mission but clientside, Two players working on a mission together!
