Some facts:
  • There will absolutely never be a traveling animation due to timing issues, so don't even think about posting your "concept" which fails at that point. (I can't freeze "time" for objects in source, just imaging you send a timebomb through the gate - And where to put the props while teleport?)
  • This pack is my Hobby and I have many other important things to do in my life (like Uni). So I can't say when I will code/add this and that.
  • There is a supergate model. I haven't started working on it yet.
  • The old gates are not supported anymore!
  • Server to server travel will (maybe) come later.
  • Do not request me coding every single thing you can build easily using GMod (like Ships etc). I'm here to save your building time.

Installation notes
  • Always delete the old "stargate" folder out of addons!
  • If you still have the folders stargate_old_beta or stargate_old_beta_resources in your addons, delete them.

Description
This pack provides several utilities (such as the Stargates) from the TV Show "Stargate SG1" and "Stargate Atlantis" (tm & (c) MGM and it's affiliates).
It's a fan project and is available for free without any intention to make profit out of it.

The Stargates are intra- and intergalactic portals: You enter it on one planet and exit it on another with nearly no time delay you generally have while traveling to this destination using a "space drive".

It also provides a few weapons from the series (such as the staffweapon or Zat'nik'tels) and technical devices (shield/cloaking).
The pack is constantly getting enhanced and the latest version will always be available through SVN.

Please read the "Some facts" paragraph.
I can't promise if I can fix everything today, but I will try. I have to do a lot of work today and I also haven't fully installed my new Computer yet.

Known Bugs so far
  • [Confirmed] The addresspanel for setting an address does not work
  • [Confirmed] The sprites are black squared
  • Someone reported, there is a crashbug with the gatespawner. I will check this but the new one (which is included in the zip/svn) should not crash.

Please post any bugs you find so I can try to fix them.

I think, I cannot fix the gates today or before the weekend - I'm quite busy. Spent much time for uni now and fixed my own little serverscripts (where some still do not work).

I really don't want to wait for this fix *stargate is by far my favorite addon to G-mod and the inability to make my horendousley large map wide bases connected by a stargate network greatly saddens me*

what about ring trasporters? Those work, and they reach just as far as the stargates (I think), I use them, and they work fine.

They have infinite range. The ones in the stargate svn work, but the ones found here have icons and new names:

Avon are you planning on updating all of the stuff in the Stargate pack or just Stargate. I'm not sure about exactly what is wrong but i that the Asgard transporter, shield ,cloak, and zpm are all not working properly. I haven't tried the drone or staff weapon but I doubt they are either. I don't want to nag but I'm sure it's not just me who would like to see those things fixed as well.

Well, I had (in gmod9 for the VMFCopyGun) but I never received anything. You don't need to donate. But when you really want to donate, you can contact me in PM and receive some privileges on my (and our other) server.

Catdaemon, I already added Icons to the whole stargate pack about a month ago when garry introduced category icons :)
When there is anything else which changed (lua) I'll adept them later.

That was a bug: The file has been overwritten. Just call an admin in the next few days when the server works again (currently not updated yet for purpose due to scriptfixing)

If you can't finish the big ones yet, could you tell us how to get the Alpha version of them? I'm just tired due to my exams yesterday and I'm still have to do them today and tomorrow, plus I had to get a fresh new folder for garry's mod which means I have to install all my addons again. Anyways good luck finishing the SG show-like gates aVoN.

That's really strange. I can't think why this fails, because I'm not making usage of the scrollwheel.

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but here is my mini guide on... "How to use the gates after the horrible update" Try saying THAT 10 times fast.

Now, as we know the only problem is the "keyboard" that pops up, as it won't "set". This is easy. Use "Ent_Setname 123456" in the console, replace 123456 with the desired address, make sure your looking at the gate. Unfortunately, you must always use a DHD now to dial the gate until aVoN makes his fixes.

Now a question to our residential ancient, aVoN, is it me or when the gate dials (or when pressing DHD buttons) that the glow has been replaced by a black box thing?

I nearly fixed the stargate keyboard : everything is working except you can still press a disabled key (it looks like disabled but you can still click it) but it should not be hard to fix :D

It's happened to me as well and it's just that the resource for these old gates are not really compatible with this update, which is why aVoN is trying his best to get the new SG show-like gates up and running, with wire support, iris, well pretty much everything the old ones had, plus with new sizes, texture, and new dailing animations. They're were people who got the alpha version of these gates, just go to youtube and search "Gmod Alpha Stargate." There should only be two vids since no one else know how to get them and are just waiting for aVoN. Although I would want to get the alpha version, and just replace them when he's finished with the full functional ones, but no one will tell how to get them.

Niijax, Go to your desktop and create a new folder, now if you have Svn (If not Get it) use this "http://stargatepack.googlecode.com/svn/branches" repository Then follow the Readme Inside the downloaded files :D However you will still get Sprite (glows) problems with the Dhd because it's Garrysmods problem...

How odd, i went back and tried again and everything worked but yesterday evening i was playing a multilayer server and both the shield and cloak were not functioning correctly. I set up a shield that without any power stayed at 100% no matter what they shot at it, it could have just been on the server.

Yes when you try to set the gate address it will not accept it.

My servers worked after messing with it for about 20 seconds. Also, I can confirm that the gates do spawn and then crash the game.

Well, at least they crash the server every once in a while, not sure of any difference between the times that it crashes and the times that it does not.

In the same an other servers I lagged a lot even though my ping was low. :(

If the server was running SAT of SS then every time the information bar at the top updates, the screen will flash white, for a refresh.

I'm interested in the fix: Saves me time fixing it by my own.
Anyway, I'm going to fix some bugs today. I hope, everything will work again in the evening.

aVoN, have you had the though of making the Stargate Gates(on the fgd) with an option of giving them names? aside from the addresess.
What I mean is, I want to make a trigger_multiple (for example), so when you step on it, it will auto dial to another gate with "Additional Parameter" on output, which will be the other gate's address.

Well, maybe after the release of the new gates. I can't promise. Making suggestions for additions while I'm still trying to finish them is not a good idea. You should ask this after I finished them (I hope in February - No promise)

Simple, if you mean the alpha gates, then the name "alpha gate" should give you a good idea why. If you mean the "small" gates, they aren't in the SVN, which would explain them not working.. they're not even there. They're a separate package.

Are you talking about something like the special dialing program used to travel between Earth and Atlantis through the gate bridge they made between Pegasus and the Milky Way? I'm not sure what use that would be, unless you have the gates using exponentially more power the further they are from each other.

This was the bug I thought which takes most of my time because it's really tricky. Luckily I randomly tried "sprites/physbeam.vmt" as a temporary sprite and recognized: "What the heck, no black boxes". So I took a closer look: "Oh lŕ lŕ, $spriterendermode 5"

Now only the keyboard and the old gates should be back and fully operational again.

Wow, Avon you Clever Bugger :D Yeeeha! The Sprite problem was real annoying and Like most people would agree Garrysmod just would not be the same without you, Thanks :D

Avon,the only Problem I got was the gate loader. I started a Single player game and a small red error message popped up in the right hand top corner of my screen, although I don't remember exactly what it said and The gates loaded perfectly anyway :D

yea it happened to some other tools as well that arnt even related to the stargate stuff, but it won't happen all the time.
its probably just an update glitch or something

Just uploading the fixed version now. There won't be a hotfix but a fixed download.

Fixes:
  • Keyboard not working
  • Black sprite effects
  • Removed sprites from DHD (was ugly anyway)
  • Gatespawner not setting correct angle for the gates
  • Updated to lates stargatepack (if there was any newer version)

It's nothing related to my "main server addon" (It's name is SySLib) because it's working fine on my client. I will simply reinstall gmod and copy all back. Maybe it's ULX. I read, it is incompatible.

Great I can't wait.
I have to admit. Although I use the ring Teleporter more ( Especially now with the portal stuff, Portal lift body and with a ring base inside it looks awesome)

Edit:
Maybe it's just me but once the wormhole is open the event horizon is just black.
the toilet swoosh looks fine tho.

It's just black. no square. not really a big deal, it works perfectly. It's just black.
