[b]Useful Menu Patch:[/b]

"What is the Useful Menu Patch?":
In a rush to get this mod out in time, I missed adding the useful menu which contained many of the bombs among other things. If you want this menu back you can download it above. The readme will explain how to copy it into your PHX2 folder properly.

PhoeniX-Storms 2 (High Resolution)
It's not FakeFactory quality, It's Episode Two quality.

Recommended Hardware:

Code:
Pentium 4 processor (3.0GHz, or better)
DirectX® 9 level Graphics Card (ATi 2xx0+ or Nvidia 7x00+ Recommended)
Windows® Vista/XP/2000
1GB RAM
Filefront:

PhoeniX-Storms 2 (Low Resolution)
The low resolution copy of PhoeniX-Storms for those of you who own a low end computer. If you are having crashing issues and or low framerate with PHX2, download this copy or the patch below. If everything is working great, ignore this version entirely. It's a downgrade.

Minimum Hardware:

Code:
1.7 GHz Processor
DirectX® 8 level Graphics Card
Windows® Vista/XP/2000
512MB RAM
FileFront:

Garrysmod.org
Not possible at this point. It'll most likely be considered a duplicate upload.

Texture [b]Downgrade[/b] Patch:

The Texture Downgrade Patch allows you to downgrade an existing copy of PhoeniX-Storms or the High Resolution PhoeniX-Storms to it's low resolution counterpart.

[b]Downgrade[/b] Patch Mirrors:

PhoeniX-Storms SVN (PHX3 Developer Repository)
This version only comes in high resolution flavor.

SVN:
https://phoenix-storms.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/phoenix-storms
Code:
How to use SVN:
1: If you do not already have an SVN client, get one. I recommend TortoiseSVN.
2: Create a folder in your addons directory called "phx3".
3: Right click on your newly created phx3 folder and hit "SVN Checkout".
4: Enter the SVN URL found above.
5: You're done, let it download everything.
6: Profit!

What is PhoeniX-Storms?:
PhoeniX-Storms is one of the largest and most widely used model packs for Garrysmod, now with over 100,000 downloads. This model pack enables people to build amazing new contraptions with extreme precision and professionalism.

Whats new?:
Everything has been updated to work with Garrysmod 11. PHX no longer requires override to function, and thus adds no extra load time to Garrysmod. It also has nearly 40 new props, new maps, and much, much more.

Exactly how big is PHX2?:
  • When uncompressed, PHX2 is 260MB.
  • When compressed in 7z format, PHX2 is 55.2MB.
  • When compressed in Rar format, PHX2 is 75.6MB.
  • When compressed in Zip format, PHX2 is 89.5MB.
These do not properly represent the SVN or low resolution versions of PhoeniX-Storms.

PhoeniX-Storms compatible mods:
(Conform to the PHX standard size, PHX compatible, or useful for building PHX contraptions.)I'll ask for permission to list these eventually, If you want them taken down for any reason, PM me.

Insert random joke about eating babies here.

So by over 40 new props you're not talking about the tri pack and phxtended are you?

Those aren't really new if that's what you mean. :/

Did anyone finally fix the untextured part of the tower?

At this point, it's not possible.

That one collision model isn't much of a problem though, It's not really hurting anyone.

(And, Think you could lower the size of that jpeg?)

Are these models compiled properly? I'm not exactly an expert on these things, but many of my better-informed accquaintances tell me that PHX-Final had icky collision models, etc., and as such could crash servers.

Just a quick question. I put PHX 1 in my materials/models/etc... folders, rather than in the addons folder (Strange, I know, but it always worked).

Do you have a list of the old files so I can find and remove them? (If I just go for the easy "Clean GMod" method, I'll probably just do it again)

So, to make this work, should I remove everything related to the older version of PHX, including the vehicle fix from the last update?

And just out of curiosity, was anything done to help reduce the amount of lag you get when spawning a bunch of these props on a server (or even Single Player for that matter)?

In the last Phx pack, the collision models were crap and caused extreme lag. (And unlike the other guy, I'm not saying that through hearsay, I'm saying it because I know how to compile models myself AND have tested them on dedicated servers against other props.) Has this been fixed?

For example, if you turn on your netgraph on a completely empty server and spawn a blue barrel, which should be more complex than a Phx prop, you get a small spike. If you spawn a Phx 2x2 panel, which should have a simple box for a collision model, it creates a HUGE spike.

I do hope this has been fixed, because this is one of the key reasons I avoid Phx and have kept Phx off of servers I've admined in the past, and one of the things the Spacebuild Model Pack doesn't do, which is what makes them so lag-free and useful.

Are they still ridiculously high poly and with colossal texture maps? It's insane how people use these props because they are extremely heavy on performance.

Have I done anything wrong, or there is nearly nothing new here ? The only things I noticed is the new map (which is great), a few fixes on the airboat seat and the breakable tire (which could never be spawned before), and the missing [Useful] spawnmenu.

The phx models are high poly because it makes them look better. However, there are more types of plates, such as the plastic plates, which, if you take a look at their wireframe, are very simple and not costly to render, unlike the metal plates, which do infact have a more complex poly makeup. Most people use the regular phx plates though, for the simple reason that they look better, and have a decent weight. As for the spike caused by spawning the phx panel may be just your system, as I can spawn a 4x4 plate with no spiking above normal. By the way, the spacebuild models are nice, they do actually cause more lag visually than the phx props, because they have more complex polygon structures than say a plate or a triangle. This does make them look better, and makes them easier to work with, however, they are infact laggier than the phx props.

Why not call it GMod 2007? Makes more sense, since the engine is called Source 2007 by Valve.
