Might make a cooler-looking auto-loader for the breach cannon than the one I made before. And if people ask for the adv. dupe, I don't have it, I didn't save it, it was just a tiny experiment.

Hmmm...some kind of Canada arm would be nice, maybe I'll make one.

Sorry about being half-retarded and making three threads, one i can explain, I thought I was posting in the parent thread to my model pack asking for help on some thing.

I've still been working on this pack, toying with new ideas and suggestions I've gotten.

Possible changes with next beta update

-Addition of smaller diameter robotic parts, but with same length as
the larger diameter pieces
-more types of joints and attachments
-more logical dimensions to to be more precise if not perfect with
smart-snaps

This is the reason why to sign up for garrysmod.org there should be an age limit or something. I hate it when little 6 year olds report your file for no damn reason. Screw them, I'm downloading this.

This is quite useful. Great job.

I just tried downloading it. "View Contents" doesn't show any files in the package and downloading it will make winzip complain about "non valid archive". :(

If I refer to post dates, it could be the author of this pack who reported your files : http://garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=33827

It contains primitive mechanics, tiled buildings blocks and builders pack v2; it has been posted 16 hours ago, and I think your file have been reported 16 hours ago too (post date). Tiled buildings blocks have been reported too.

The builders pack v2 didn't get reported.

Edit: almost forgot, great work!

I like the parts. Very mechanics-like. :)

What bugs me thought is how hydraulics are more like rubber bands than hydraulic cylinders and the joints (axis) allow movement in the wrong directions. Makes stable (and strong enough) 'leg' setups near impossible to create. :(

I feel ya brotha, I have contemplated for a long time for a solution that could be accomplished with a model change. It can be done, but it would be very bulky as well as half-retarded in appearance. Not to mention a pain in the ass to work with in-game.

It is all about leverage, which is revolutionary for gaming physics, but when this cool idea of a hydraulic tool resembles more of a pneumatic whoopee cushion, many great contraption ideas are left behind.

The hydraulics are a bit weak really. Making Mechs and stuff is almost impossibe because the hydraulics just aren't powerful enough to push anything anywhere.

Anyway, a very nice pack. I'm gonna go away and try make a working mech out of these!

I think the main reason why the hydraulics do not work well with the props is because the weight of the props is too heavy for it. Just lower the weight down to a acceptable level.

Also, in the Alpha #3, I cannot seem to find most of the parts in the pack. The round platform (call it what you want, it is still round), the raised platform (the one with the 4 legs), and some other parts.

Are they under construction?

Enough about that, this is a great pack. I love how you can build a large number of machines, arms, turrets.

Will be adding:

-More tooth sizes.
8,12,18,24,36,48
-Bevels
in 12,18,24,36,48

I suggest you try it at a different time of day. At some times (mostly at night time here GMT+2) it's almost impossible to get anything from gmod.org. Or _very_ slowly.

THANK YOU ALL

I have been working on new gears everyday since last release and I'd like to think I have come a long way, working around source/orange box model restrictions consumes a lot of time, especially in regards to a complex collision model such as a gear.

I would love to release the new model update tonight, once I get my worm gear working a little more smoothly.

Tried the beta 3, looks lovely. I'll try making a robotic arm later today. If I get it working, I might post some pictures.

And about the hydraulic being too sloppy, just use multiple hydraulics on the same spot, it gives more power and precision to the joint(tried and proven).

^i just download that and installed material in materials folder
models in models settings in settings i didnt own any previo8s versions so itsfresh install

all i see are errors when i go to view parts and creating them does nothing, game doesnt even register as when u press z theres nothing to undo .i saw a earlier post on 1st release that stated same errors ,why is this still happening , in the materials folder is another folder that said mechanics i copied it over to materials with the vmt vtf files ,if this is incorrect could you please pack it properly before uploading to the public every other addon ive used works using same install method this doesnt

do u not think this is why your getting reported as a lot of people are going to have the same problem why would they want to host content that no one can get to work

any advice on how to get this running would be appreciated thanks

Sounds odd, did you unpack the file correctly (with folders)?
The folder in gmod/addons should look like this:

If you examine the Properties of that Primitive Mechanics folder there should be 774 files amounting to a size of 8.17 megabytes(MB). If not, then you may have gotten a corrupted download or something.

yes I could, I can only make a rack with less than 20 teeth though. I cannot figure out how PHX could make more than 20 becuase there is a limit of 20 convex hulls for any collision model in the source engine.

there's an option in your qc file to do this. From the valve developer wiki:

$maxconvexpieces [Episode Two Update]
Manually set the maximum number of collision model pieces to allow costly collisions. This replaces -fullcollide from previous studiomdl builds.

If you're using the older compiler, and not the episode 2 compiler, when you compile, send studiomdl the option -fullcollide.
