You might wanna look up some tutorials, and collect the plugins and programs needed to work with the source engine.

Then you need to get some practice, ask around for help, learn the ups and downs of Valve's wacky world and I'm sure you could get the hang of it.

It always looked to me like she pulled it from the top half of her petticoat/dress where the pink meets the white, since that spot is about the same location as Alyx's jacket.

But whatever floats your boat, among other things.

I figured out why my NPC didn't work, i left the code in the pack for Gmod.

Turns out i accidentally forgot to add a comma in one spot, and so it didn't work.

Should i re-release with a working NPC? Or can those of you who want it handle adding one comma to an LUA file?

I added one comma ages ago, it made the spawn icon appear but the NPC was just an error.

Now you should replace "Gordon Freeman" (The model you see if you ever cheated to get into third person at all) with Link. :-P

And maybe replace the crowbar with a master sword.

Who knows, maybe its possible to replace Alyx's gun with light arrows?

Ahh, the possibilities. :-P

Actually those are 2 very good ideas. Would replacing player.mdl really work though? it doesn't seem to have any animation information (it's got animations, the game doesn't use them though), and it's looking the other way.

Very well done. The facial animations seem a tad bit bland, but they're not bad for a ported model at all. Great work man!

I'm having trouble actually getting the model/ragdoll to work... I installed into my addons directory, but it still won't work. Any advice?

I relize this is a rather newbie question but I've seen stuff like this done before and seeing the Zelda model was really impressive.

Is there a site or some way to learn more about this process?
I have the Zelda models on my computer, plus I've also personally ripped models from Final Fantasy XII. I can use them in 3DS, but I don't know much about how to properly use them or apply them to programs like gmod.
I'd love to work on a way to get my own Balthier and Fran models into half life.

I've done some work with rigging, but nothing as good as what you've done.
Particularly on stuff such as clothing.

Any advice or links to help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, MarioKart64n's tutorial is coming along nicely. But the valve developemont community wiki is extrememly useful for learning how to set up eyes and facial flex's.

The sources that first helped me learn are long dead, so i'm afraid i really don't have any links for you.

hmm. got a link to mariokart64n's tutorial?

though im not surrpsied; there just dont seem to be any good ways to learn more about this stuff anywhere. I can find snipits of individual stuff, but pretty much i've had to self teach myself. which is a very long process. just learings to rip and rig took almost a year for me.

Really? I picked up ripping, rigging, and rag-dolling in a week. :uhoh:

Did you download the Gmod version?

Edit:

Did you refresh the model directory thingy? Its the picture of like the green spinny arrows next to the search function.

It's not possible to buy Garry's mod in a store... Is it? And if you mean piracy wise no. i tried the refresh search cache thing and it didn't do anything.
I don't think you understand my problem, Zelda is a model instead of a ragdoll.

What i meant is if you downloaded the Garry's mod version of the file, not if you downloaded Garry's mod.

Also, are you using gmod 9? If you are you need to add a "#" before the model in the spawn menu or else it will spawn as a regular model.

If you're using Gmod 10 and still have this issue, i have absolutely no idea what the issue is. About 4000 others have downloaded the file without a single complaint.

one thing to take note, If you happen to have that MidnaSource mod which is coded similary to the zelda player model and Npc for gmod, zelda will override it, some tweaking will be required.
Edit: It appears that model imentioned was'n overwriten, just installed it wrong
