A question to DaveP and Dav0r, how long do you think the bleach/paint will stay on until it fades away, due to washing, etc.?

I made it from an in-game screenshot. I should have left the bleach on longer, but I was scared because it was my first time.

So that's why my clothes kept on turning red!
Now when I know this, I'll go figure out what that paper is called in Swedish then go buy some!
I did some bleach stencils on T-Shirts yesterday.
Ended up quite badly so I went nuts.
They actually turned out pretty cool.
I'll post pictures later.
Edit:
Here we go:
So yeah, my stencil wasn't very good. First time I'd ever tried it so was disappointed when my design didn't show up very well.
Eventually it faded into a deep red - but only after I'd done some random patterns by scrunching up my T-shirt and spraying it.
Seeing the colour, it gave me an idea...
I really like the blood effect it gives :D

That's pretty cool!
Edit:
getting the supplies is the hard part.
I agree, that looks awesome! I really want to try this, though I can't be bothered to buy an airbrush. It seems like the spray bottle still turned out okay - I'll just have to be careful with it.Pickwickian- posted:
Does it really matter what material you use for the stencil? As long as it can be printed on and is non-absorbent it should work, right?
This is awesome, I did my own.

Bleach should be permanent.blah534 posted:
I had an explosion in Chem last year that got a bleach wash all over the clothes I was wearing and the color doesn't return, bleach is pretty permanent.
Also, to my knowledge, fabric paint should be given it's made with the assumption that it needs to survive a washing, but that may only apply to the quickie t-shirt spray bottles and such.
That's fucking awesome.Azker posted:

Of course it's permanent. It makes the shirt return to its base color.
and bump for awesomeness.
Hmm, this will certainly be something to try later. I recently picked up 12 plain black shirts for $10 so I'll give it a go.
Help i just tried this on a white shirt but nothing happened. What did i do wrong.
too bad we cannot rate you fonny in heresami-pso posted:
also I made a portal shirt but the bleach clouded over small parts in the stencil and made em blotchy
For added easyness: Use a previously iron'd shirt. It's a good thing.
It's like making a pencil drawing and erasing it. It doesn't come back.blah534 posted:
I've done some work on my stencil template but it still needs to be finished.
As soon as I get it to the way I like it, I'll get started on putting it on my t-shirt.
I would love to see the results. Physco Mantis is one of my favourite Metal Gear Solid characters.Doc OC posted:
Know this is a little bump, but since I just found an airbrush in the garage, I decided to look this up again. My question is, is there anyway to know what the base color of a t-shirt is? Or are there any general guidelines, like how the black shirts seem to have brown underlying?
Not really; For the most parts coloured tee-shirts are almost all made off of a white base colour; I can imagine dark olive green tee-shirts might use like a khaki base colour or something, only one way to find out honestly.
look all very pretty..
Maybe this is not the right thread to post it in.. but I am to lazy to make my own..
And its spraying and the use of stencils so i thought of posting this here ;)..
Made this with airbrush..
http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/6907/cimg2488smallec4.jpgps. I did not airbrush for a very long time :D
I used pokemon cards.
That's some odd colour blend; very cool.
Fucking awesome idea.
Well done!
Just made a gman stencil. Can anyone help me make this look better?

I don't think it gets any better.
I'm doing this, I have two shirts with nothing on them.

Only a couple minor changes other than the face.
Oh wow, this is really neat.
Where can I find stencils?
Thanks to dave, here's my second revision of the gman stencil:

I'm about to do one now. Just deciding on a design!
I fucking love you! Gonna do this later.
Oh man I just tried this but I had no plastic so I just used cardboard.
Epic fail.
Cardboard didn't work too well?
No. It just soaked through.
:(
Next time I'll wrap the card in foil or something. Good job I tried it on an old t-shirt!
Just use normal paper?
Just make the face all black, and it'll be great. Also get rid of pockets, and similar (small) details.
I've wanted to do this for a very long time.
I just need to get the equipment which may be hard.
I've got some stencils, will these work? Can you tell me what to fix?
Feel free to use them.
I love that, can i have the stencil?Pickwickian- posted:
