Can't wait to try the Free to play. Then if I get stuck into it, I might buy a month or so.

Yeah I know, but I have been there for a couple years now, it is hard to see a big change like this. It is really cool in some ways though.
so what server you guys on?
snowbourn
Dev Chat is going on at the moment.

ooh, I really want to read that transcript
I heard something about them removing radiance in the future
http://www.warcry.com/news/view/1032...g-Free-to-Play and yes, they are removing radiance finally!
So far:
Warden and Runemaster are two classes you need to buy from
Bag 4 and 5 you have to pay for...
You get a free mount at level 5 from what I've heard (which is good).
you be able to play the skirmish at level 20.
So far, this is what I see... and I don't know yet to determine this is bad or good...
also longer login time and forever loading on loading screens, disabled voice over after a new chapter beginning.
Is there a link to a place showing the Subscriprion tiers/ Benefits of F2P vs Paying?
Took some searching but I found it:
http://www.lotro.com/betasignup/vipchart.html
Buy Turbine Points, automatically become a Premium member, and VIP is your basic monthly subscription which gives you everything with no restrictions
Not a bad deal really, I hope the Cash Shop doesn't have to be abused to be viable in anything in the late game, even if you're a VIP
Buy Turbine points... hmm... I need a job to get VIP then.
The free mount only lasts a day.
Bought lifetime back in May/June for 110€. And to be honest, it isn't really that bad of a price when you think of it. At least not for someone who plays regularly. I've easily spent over 300€ over the years I've been playing the game.
And they plan to keep that price too. $110 in the US, and 110€ for us Europeans, which is a bit of a bummer really since €>$ in value. But oh well.
Edited:
At level 15 or 20 (can't remember) you can get the slower kind of mount for ~350 silver. Compared to the level 35 mount for 4g 200s.
I don't doubt you couldn't get $110 worth of value out of a game, but to me, That's just un-doable, in one lump sum
Yeah, and it is understandable. In the end, it is still a lot of money.
Goddamnit, seems like the F2P update has been delayed.
Aw dammit I was looking forward to not having to play my minstrel anymore
fuck it, this game turned from great to suck with this redicoulous turbine shit... You can't use the auction house, you got to by points... buy buy buy,, that's all I see from these greedy bastards... fuck it. I'm uninstalling this game. This game is no longer fun to me... better yet all mmo games sucks now.
If you still are a subscriber you still have access to the auctionhouse. In fact, you have access to everything like normal. It's when you're not paying, your account will temporarily be downgraded to not have access to those things.
In short: nothing will change for you
I thought the info page said it was limited to some degree?
TheTalon posted this.
As a subscriber, you are in the VIP-member field. If you stop paying, you will become a premium. And you won't lose anything you already own.
Yeah if you're a subscriber the game doesn't really change for you, other than you'll get 500 Turbine points a month to play with
Is the outside world instanced up?
Nope
Does it cost monthly?
Only if you want it to
free players can only have 2 gold?
So where do you get a product key?
EU or American?
Direct2Drive has LOTRO for sale for $5, and you get 30 day VIP access along with 1000 Turbine Points
http://www.direct2drive.com/9814/pro...-Pack-Download
Not bad, Considering VIP costs $15/month, and 1,200 Turbine Points (You get some extra included with the purchase) Costs $20
Takes quite a while to get that much and you can buy a low level house for that.
Yeah. 100 Copper is 1 Silver, but 1,000 Silver is 1 Gold
Thanks for the information, was wondering about that.
Downloading LOTRO now, anything I need to know?
It's online... derp
Brandywine server is laggy at times, but most of us Facepunchers are there.
I would play this if I had unlimited free time.
LotR is WoW, only for free, which makes it better.
It is rather similar to Heroes of Three Kingdoms.
The differences is, LotR is based on myth, HoTK is based on reality, one is in China, the other is Middle Earth.
My character is called Informative
Ok I caved and downloaded the game, but there's VIP and stuff? What can I buy and what do I get if I buy it? Is there an item store?
EDIT:
http://www.lotro.com/betasignup/vipchart.html
Can purchase, can purchase, can purchase, can purchase. Fuck this man. I bet Tolkien would be appauled at how much money they're making on this, I could play WoW for cheaper.
I am a hypocrite. I'll keep downloading so I can try it out. See you in a bit.
