Description:
A project which enhances the Space Build Gamemode (SBG by the SB Dev Team)

Requirements:
See post.

[This Project being formerly known as 'The SpaceBuild Modelpack'; name change may only be temporary. Community vote is in progress in our Steam Community.]

----DO NOT UPLOAD UNOFFICIAL VERSIONS TO GARRYSMOD.ORG----
No, really. :(
We will upload official versions ourselves to Garrysmod.org whenever we have reached stable milestones. Otherwise, people get outdated and broken content and then get mad at us for your mistake. :|

----DISCLAIMER----
In order for all portions of the SBMP to function as intended, you must have the following addons installed to your (steam/steamapps/username/garrysmod/garrysmod) addons folder:
* Life Support Systems 2 (V3 support coming soon)
* Resource Distribution Systems 2 (V3 support coming soon)
* SpaceBuild 2 (V3 support coming soon)

This is not the thread to be addressing issues with the server.
Though this thread is related in an official capacity, being the SBEP server, this thread is not meant to address anything to do with the server. Should you have questions, queries, concerns, or suggestions, please go over to the www.sb-mp.com forums and we will address what you have to say.

Thank you for keeping this thread clear of unrelated clutter!

//----MISSION----\\
Where before we were 'simply a modelpack' we have begun to move beyond this. We are a companion to SpaceBuild now, paired in ways we didn't dare dream.

We seek to enrich your whole SpaceBuild experience, from first weld to first flight. To make it easier, faster, and more fun than ever before to get a ship in the air, and then into space.

We collaborate with top scripters and modelers throughout the SpaceBuild and Modeling and Scripting communities to bring a weave of content which meshes as well as we can make it with other visionary projects such as PhX's Model Pack and StarGate Mod.

"We" are you in respect of this project being a community project. Neither I nor PJB would wish it any other way.

Why build anew when you can improve on what's already there?

- The SBMP Team

----CONTENT----
We have quite a lot on our plate, so we thought we should let you know what you'll be digging in to when you download our pack from our official SVN (listed at the top of this page).

* Over 200 interconnectable modules specifically planned and designed for efficient ship-building
* New LifeSupport Habitable Modules and Resource Caches, scalable from battery-size to station-size.
* Dry Dock models to hold your ship aloft in the Great Expanse
* New, resourceless, weaponry for easy testing of ship hardpoints.
* Interlocks with PHX units for in-ship platforms and customization.
* StarGate control room for all your in-ship star-travel needs.
* Fighter components to imagine and engineer many configurations of smaller, pilot-flown, spacecraft.
* Generic 'ground base' models for defense and comic purposes
* "ScreenLecterns" for easy configuration of all your Cockpit Wire Screens and Panels.

Yeah! I hope this one survives.

Actually we need some screens screaming RED ALERT! Or YELLOW ALERT!

Would be the best if you'd ask me.

EDIT:What's the fifth set of bridges?

Hey, quick idea (i know i should really be trying to make this rather than request it but i don't have the parts needed) howabout a smallbridge DWDH to bedbridge converter, it would proberly fit better than the SWSH...

Good Evening, ladies and gentlemen, this is your Station Commander speaking. We are currently experiencing an asteroid storm, meaning we will have to power down most of the non essential systems. While this dioe

This does meann that while experiencing turbulence the server will be down. Our crew is doing their utmost to ensure that we are in top working condition when the storm passes.

/==/End Transmission/==/

Servers are down, don't know why. I can't access them, nor can Firgof. We're waiting for Kali to get on so we can fix it.

I haven't seen anyone use the Station corridor pieces (or STube as I call them) in a while. It may be an idea to remove them to save space, de-clutter spawnlists and speed up loading.
If we're making radical changes though, Engine parts, like for the Fighters, should be remodelled with the thruster part facing upwards.
Alternatively we should have a custom thruster tool where we could select the orientation of the Thruster (Up, Forward, Down, Back, Left, Right). The Thruster tool should have both Numpad and Wire inputs
We should also have our own Tab, separate from Life Support as believe it or not, this model pack can be enjoyed without it.
As for weapons which don't use resources, I believe this is already handled by GCombat, but there are some good weapon models in the pack.
As I hear that there is a GCombat compatibility plugin for CDS, it may be better to design the weapons for GCombat to ensure compatibility with both.

Ah, alright. I'll see about grabbing you a link to the resource I used to compile it.

fishface: I actually saw a few people using them today, touring the spacebuild servers. So I'm going to keep them for now.

I'm not sure if we have enough to constitute making people go yet another tab over to get to our content. But maybe in the upcoming revisions we'll see about making one.

Also, -low damage- no resource weapons; that can only be fired via Use key. =p
They're testing weaponry. For test fires. Of course, you could rig one up to fire conventionally ... but that's like taking a mining laser to a Particle Cannon face off.

And yes, Snake is working with LUAPineapple to make a CDS plugin for the upcoming SpaceBuild 3.

And our weaponry list may be expanding soon. We're talking it over with Nol.

All excellent points.
If people are still using the STube pieces perhaps we should have a little upgrade project, they haven't got the best textures.
GCombat has a damage multiplier planned so damage could be reduced while building, but it would be inconvenient to reduce the weapon power of other players while building.
If you're using the weapons for testing, perhaps they should change the colour of the props they hit, increasingly red for the amount of damage they would do so you can see the spread of damage.

SBMP server now has two coders :)

I have been talking with one, Viktor and we have come up with this;

Mining redone so red balls do not appear - it goes straight into the repository. Terracrystal can be sold for credits, and there will be an economy. Excess Terracrystal will result in a lower price per Terracrystal :P

You will receive benefits for ammasing credits, such +5 to prop limit, or being able to spawn more LS modules, or have access to stronger weapons.

We are also looking at making our own weapons and not using GCombat or the Stargate weapons.

Why was the other thread locked? Was it because it was called spacebuild model pack?

Edit:

Also, when is the LS stuff coming out?

Edit:

Could I design or even make some guns? I found out how to import .VMFs from hammer into XSI. Also, is XSI a decent modelling program?

The server is running a factions script, so we will (eventually) have 5 factions, all with different politics etc.

The credits system will inject a currency and an economy into the gamemode. It's an edge that other servers will not have.

I still use them for interior corridors on ships and stations that I build. Myself and a few others I mean.

Um Firgof. The Stubes lag like beasts when used multiple times. Please do something about them. Maybe change the material or something.

Seriously. What's the purpose of that all-in-one-fightermodule?

LPine made it, it's supposed to be a Shield Generator, Resource Cache and Joystick Output. It doesn't work for me.

If you could send them to me if possible, we could see what we can do with them. I am not sure if you have a scanner or the time to upload them all, but if you get a chance that would be great.

Seeing as the old thread is gone I'm reposting my old ship part concepts.
Apologies for those with slow connections.
These are for medbridge

These are for Medbridge's Fighterbay 3, to give it a bit of variation

These are for engines

Well, I am posting in the new thread for shits and giggles.

Actually I was wondering if anyone would be interested in me making some Spacebuild themed furniture for the pack if it was alright with Firgof. So, is anyone interested?

I was thinking along the lines of some streamlined command consoles, screens, tables, chairs, and shelves. If there is any interest I might go ahead and start, whether or not it will be part of the pack is up to Firgof and the others.

I agree with Pronema; some 'furniture props' (maybe a set for each bridge style (i.e. Smallbridge, Medbridge, and so on)?) for this pack would really improve the pack in my opinion.

Edit: also, has anyone seen Hysteria lately? I may have missed something in the old thread, but I have not been on Steam in general too much recently, and he has never been online on the occasion that I have.

Yea I started working on some furniture at the beginning of the pack. There are a little test pieces of which I started on. Also, it isn't ALL up to Firgof :) I am one of the original creators of the Space Build Model Pack so just letting you know you don't always have to check with Firgof to get something approved.

furniture props would be nice, pipes, chairs, screens, flashing, beeping things, doors with windows, levers, panels, etc. Those would be very nice. Especially the pipes. (You could make them hold Resources for Life Support!)

If anybody is interested (I have no idea why they would be, though) , I was planning on making an obnoxious station that I have no intention of actually using in anything aside from single player. I was hoping to include a radio 'receiver station' in the command bridge that operates separately from the main station receiver and has an 'auto-tuner' that adjusts the base megahertz of the receiver until it picks up non-static values, at which point it will stop scanning until it is told to continue. Of course, this would serve very little practical application and would use the Radio Systems Wire addon.

Other things would include somewhat realistic airlocks (in that you go inside, the inner door closes, a short period of time passes, then the outer door opens for n seconds), a complete 'lockdown' that can be enabled from the bridge which would seal all doors on the station, making the bridge capable of detaching and teleporting away by itself (although I'd need to think of an effective way to implement this (weld latches don't work; they teleport both ends even if the latch is deactivated). Perhaps grabbers?), and an 'address system' using console screens and a simple concatenation expression gate.

An idea which I am less likely to implement simply because of how long it would take (and how awkward it could potentially be) is a system in the bridge which allows specific doors to be locked (or alternatively unlocked) and have it temporarily refuse passwords (for all intents and purposes, locking that door in a specific state).

That said, much of this depends on the Wire keyboard being fixed (the last time I used it, it 'stuttered' when there were several of them).

I am totally up for that. I have a shedload of designs for stuff in my brain too, I will grab SketchUp tonight and give it a whack? I think that stuff like consoles etc are really needed, especially for those who mess with wire etc to make awesome shiny things :D

I would thoroughly enjoy seeing decorative pieces showing up for the modelpack. Adornments were going to be much later implemented but if you guys want to do it, then by all means, go right ahead and do so. I will add them to the modelpack just as soon as you get them collisioned, textured, and exported to GMod.

If anyone comes up with any conceptuals, feel free to post them in the thread. I would like to see what's on the community's mind so as to further 'tune' some of the models I'm working on releasing in to the SVN.

I'd suggest a semicircular console for buttons and screens. It should be the right size to have a chair in the centre and not so high that seeing over it is a problem.

I prefer both.

Though with two way glass you can see where your enemy is hiding and then you blow up that section so you can hijack the rest.
