    I can easily model, as well as texture, but it seems like there is no documentation for how to make addons for gmod. The modding page on garrysmod.com only explains how to make tutorial videos, and if I'm correct none of them have been made. I can install any program, I can get my models and textures into almost any format needed. I have Wings3d as the modeller, and I have paint.net and Gimp for textures, I have source sdk and XSI mod tool as well.

    Too bad you need nothing of those to make addons!

    With addons, do you mean like model packs or actual code?

    I have literally hundreds of models I want to add to gmod, I don't think that requires any kind of lua.

    No what he means is that info file that you put into your folder so that you can just unzip it into the add ons folder.

    Haha, yeah GMod 10 (10 or 11 whichever you prefer) does automatically generate spawn icons. You need to make an info file containing details such as author name e-mail etc.


    Here's some sample code:

    Please, really now. I have the models in wings, how do I make the vtx's and vtf's that gmod uses? I know how the info.txt works, and it's pointless to even explain it when it's self-explanatory, basically the same as the old TDF's back in Spring RTS.

    ffs, its in the lua code, not the addons.

    if you REALLY want a personalized addon, look for the shared.lua file in the addons folder of the object u wanna make admin-only and find ENT.adminspawnable and set it to true, and ENT:spawnable, set it to false.

    Hey, i know its been a while sense this was active, but what the heck - i am curious how i could add units from knights of the old republic to Gmod in an addon as NPC units. They dont have to be playable or hold weapons, they just have to stand there and look pretty :)

    i'd appreciate any asistance!

    You would probably have to export and import the models from KOTOR into a model editor, if that's possible, and then save it using a editor compitable with source (creates .mdl files). There's probably a lot more complications, but that's all I know.

    thanks for the info! from the entity-addons i have used in game so far, they seam to work great, and i'd be willing to settle for that with my models. I am going to UC Berkley this week and will be working in a great computer lab, and staff so i'll see what i can dig up on an editor. Any further details would be great if at all possible.
