If you don't download anything and nothing works for you on the server it's not the gamemode's fault it's the fast download server. Since HL is shitty when it comes to fast download servers, if there is any problem contacting the fast DL server it will simply skip the file instead of logically just getting it the normal way. So if you join and something happened to the fastDL server you won't get any files unless you've played before. The fastDL server is usually pretty reliable, but it is confusing as hell for new players if it's offline when they join. It's debatable whether to turn the fastDL server off entirely since there are a lot of maps and files and having it off means a lot less new players joining.
As for release, you guys are quite whiny. Why the hell would I make this if not to release it? It's not like I gain money from it or even play it (any "playing" I do is really just testing stuff"). I'm surprised there is such clamor for release when the server isn't very populated and essentially no one has offered anything to speed the release. The last post I made on the WM:RTS forums already mentioned that I'm cutting some of the planned features so I can get this released this month. I just want to get the encyclopedia up to date and fix a crash bug.
But more than that the server takes a god awful long time to join, you get raped from the very start, any strategy you come up with is automaticly declared 'cheap' by any seasoned players, and the list goes on from there.
On a personal note: I honestly hate playing multiplayer on GMod unless it's a LAN connection, people are douch'e's and there's like nonstop lag (this is just for online in general). So I'm quite conntent with playing SP and using FP for my community fix.
Takes more than 3 seconds before you get set as AFK and takes a couple more minutes to get kicked out IF there are plenty of users in game already. It there are only 2 - 3 players then you will not be kicked due to the low player count.
There are a lot of things considered "cheap" by most players on the server, but what is truly cheap is just welding melons on a hoverball/order core. That is truly cheap. I think there were plans to fix this, but I am not 100% sure. Anyways, if there were plans then its been cut to get the game out already.
I understand the urge to play SP and LAN. GMOD community is pretty damn immature and Garry is correct in his title of internet babysitter. It's annoying enough doing things coop in GMOD with pubbies, but when they are actually facing each other in a complex game the bitching and moaning reaches amazing heights. There is no fix for this and more than half the complaints I get about the gamemode are actually just about other players being mean or noob stomping.
If anyone wants to speed release I need some in game screenshots showcasing a specific unit in action (not just one sitting there doing nothing). I also could probably use a hand if you are a competent writier with finishing off this encyclopedia.

So I fixed a server crash issue and I've changed the plasma cannons on the test server so that they fire big slow moving globs of plasma. Much less lag from all the flechettes and they seem to better serve their purpose of hitting structures and slow moving vehicles. This also helps out people without episode 1/2 since they won't see random errors all the time.
So I don't know wtf was the reasoning behind the last change, but clients now hang after being sent almost any type of file required for the gamemode. Doesn't matter if it is a text file or a texture. This essentially makes the server impossible to entire for anyone who hasn't disallowed downloads or has already played in the last month.
I was wondering why the hell there was never anyone in the server and this is why. Server instantly filled when just two of us were actually on there. Unfortunately, most of those people were new players and couldn't actually finish joining. So there is still interest, but no one has been able to actually join.
Not having models or textures makes the game an eye sore. I might have a way to fix these so they start downloading...maybe...but I don't know if there is a workaround for the help files, but I better fix it fast. Without the help files newbies are 100% fucked unless someone walks them through things.
Odd that the main thing I was waiting on before release was in game documentation, which no longer even works. I'm shutting down the server so people don't get frustrated trying to join. I'm working on fixing it asap.

Without a solid release date I'll just keep adding features and pushing back releases so....

I am releasing the gamemode on the 1st of next month whether the documentation or anything else is finished or not. Any remaining stuff can be dealt with using SVN updates. I will also release a nonSVN version for retards, which will be updated far less.
Looks like I found a way to fix the server. Game on.

I'd like to see a version of this in sandbox,
The original hasn't been updated in ages, and I would love to see an addon which makes props into props that can be killed and targeted by warmelons, while only allowing warmelons props to be able to have the melons weled to them.
I'd rather see a server of warmelons which anyone could join at any time and not have to worry about resources, and instead just screw around and build mock wars with friends.

Because it was an addon and not a gamemode when this was initially released. It'll be in gamemodes when I release it. Thanks for reminding me what day it was as if I didn't know. I didn't say by November 1st. I said it will be released on November 1st so I'm afraid you'll have to wait a few more hours for your free stuff.

Oh God I remember seeing this a few months ago, any chance of a fuck-around sandbox singleplayer mode?
Though it is technically a gamemode you can choose to allow any sandbox tools and screw around singleplayer.
Is it gonna be released in the next 20 minutes?
Because next to the 10 GB update coming to the SBEP project (Hopefully coming out before 2011), i'm dying to play and have fun with this!
