The Reading and Leeds Festivals are a pair of music festivals that take place in Reading and Leeds in the UK annually on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the bank holiday in August.
Stages
[list]Main stage – major rock, indie and alternative acts[/list][list]NME/Radio 1 stage – less well-known acts, building up to an alternative headline act[/list][list]Festival Republic stage (formerly known as the Carling stage) – acts with less popular appeal and breakthrough acts[/list][list]Radio 1 Lock Up Stage – underground punk and hardcore acts[/list][list]Dance tent – dance music acts, on the day that the above stage does not run[/list][list]Alternative tent – comedy and cabaret acts plus DJs[/list][list]BBC Introducing Stage – Typically unsigned/not well known acts[/list]

Reading is the same but the artists play on different days.
I will update this as often as possible, if you'd like to see some sort of info put here, let me know.
So who's planning on going? I managed to get tickets so I'll be attending Leeds!

Arctic Monkeys and Kings of Leon should alright for the headliners, not really fussed about Radiohead or Green Day although I think if they play mainly old stuff i'll be happy :P.
Out of the Strong Rumours I reckon most we (me and ash) will be hoping for will be Muse and Pendulum. Definitely wouldn't mind MGMT, Fall Out Boy, The Who and Weezer.

Not too fussed with going this year, 2007 was great, 2008 was pretty rubbish in every aspect apart from the lineup and the acts on the alternative stage, and the things that were bad I can only imagine being worse this summer (bad quiet sound, way too many people for too small a place, the 'riot' atmosphere getting too ingrained, etc.)
Only reason I'd really get a day ticket is if NiN or Kraftwerk were playing and weren't anywhere else in the UK

Ticket prices have gone up to £175 this year (for the whole weekend). That's not stopping me trying to get tickets though.

I just don't really get the hype this year. Prodigy aren't even headlining after how long they've been off that yellow poster.

I got my ticket straight away at 7pm without looking at the line-up.
Looks aright actually, but nothing like last year. I'm hoping it'll keep getting better from here on, and not have more crap bands like Fallout Boy and Funeral For A Friend.
What the hell are they doing there anyway?!

Mine were a bit tricky to get, had to follow a backdoor link. Managed to get 2. The only trouble is, I'm the only one who actually managed to get tickets so as it stands, it's only me and a mate going at the moment but I'm sure the rest will be able to sort something out.

Nah, tickets sold out on seetickets at about 10ish. Everywhere else was gone by 8.

I managed to get my tickets through seetickets about 7:30 but my mate was struggling, so I sent him that back door link you found, but he accidentally ordered 2 Reading tickets haha

It pretty well buggers me off to read Facebook at people that bought 4 tickets and almost immediately started posting messages to the tone of selling them for £250-300+

I've ended up with 2 more than I planned.
What I'm gonna do is take them with me, when someone goes to buy a ticket from a tout, I'll join in the conversation and sell the ticket for £200 and steal the tout's customer. I'll still be making a little bit of profit but that's not the point, I just can't wait to see the look the touts give me :D

Look at the lineup for almost every single reading festival before this one.
One day always set aside for metal.
Oh and the festival was original exclusively metal/hard rock.

FFFUUU- I'd love to go there, but too bad I don't live in the UK. When I have filled 18 years, that's next year I will hopefully go on a roadtrip with my friends. We thought it would be awesome to first go with the ferry to Sweden, and from there continue to southern Sweden, then cross over to Germany, and from there drive to France, and then at last cross to UK, and there we'll go to Reading and Leeds. Sounds great, doesn't it? And of course there's booze involved, and maybe as a sidetrip we'll go to Amsterdam.
