Name: Delirium
Genre: FPS/Horror/Psychological Horror
Engine: Source 2007
Year: TBA

"Delirium" follows the psychological horrors of a lonesome man by the name of Nathan Clark. Currently at the age of 26, Nathan has been through quite a lot. Diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia at the age of five, he spent most of his childhood and his adolescent years in afternoon therapy sessions. As he grew older, a group of students at Stanford University developed an experimental breakthrough in medication for the mentally impaired---a chip that, when implanted in a subjects brain, monitors and regulates brainwave patterns. The group set out to find a subject who matched their needs---and Nathan was their first pick. Now, Nathan can live life like a regular human being----or can he?

So, what do you guys think about this? I haven’t seen much of any of this done before. So I assume it’s semi-original and creative.

Thanks! After I played Dear Esther, I had a sudden knack for a game kind of like it. And when I noticed hardly none existed, I thought I'd come up with one.

Other than that, good luck.

Surley you can just make this a buttload of effects with triggerhurts. In which case you can just have a very basic map (Imagine the time that would same :P)

Did I happen to mention I'm good at Photoshop, Photography and Video Editing? lol.

At the moment, I'm working on some logo designs/wallpapers for the mod.

Hopefully that means you're going to do texture work.

Making the mod is the foremost priority compared to PR.

True, but I don't know anything about texturing in Source. I'll have to check in on that.

I have a level idea.

You start off in the woods its sunny and nice you walk over to a house once in the house if you look at a painting of a lake and a girl standing near the shore the environment suddenly changes to nightmarish world where everything is all dark purple for no reason. You venture your way through the Spooky environment and reach the same lake in the picture and sure enough the girl is there. She Teleports up to you says something and you are forced out of the machine that projects dreams and well now you have an antagonist.

Interesting. I was wanting some type of an antagonist. But not one that is generated from actions. The way the antagonist you are describing is along the lines of what I want. A creepy element conjured up from the main character.
I like it.

I was thinking about it, then I noticed you had to have some form of content. I have zip content right now, other than the writing.

Edit: I wonder if they'll let me post it if I put up a teaser trailer that doesn't contain actual gameplay footage. I could also get to work on concept art, but I'm not very good at it. But I could try.

There's a movie quite like this, they get some serial killer and go into his dreams and shit to find out about him and stuff, it was really trippy.

Funnily enough I changed the story to where the player took control of a deranged killer. >_>
Now I feel like a copycat. D:

Hey Haloguy can I be part of the team?

I was thinking I could be the level designer (no actual mapping just sketches and concepts)

Or maybe a writer

Name me a mod out there that withholds concepts like these. All the psychological horror type of mods I've seen are total shit. I'd really like to change that.

Edit: Paranoia is an exception. That looked amazing, but I couldn't play it because I don't have Half-Life. D:
If Penumbra is a Source Mod, then right there is a mod that is a hella good psychological horror. (I'd get Penumbra, but I haz no munnies)

lolol hey guise i'm gabe newell
make this game called half-life 2 for me and i'll take the credit kk?

I don't recall that ever happening. Don't you know what a team is? Not one person takes credit. The team behind it does. At what point did I ever say I was taking all the credit? Never. I'm not a douchebag.

I could attempt to gift it.
The game was horrific.

As for the Second personality and Schizo, I keep wanting to make a character for something with these dis-eases.

Also I assume the levels are going to be based off parts of Miles life and the enemies are things that troubled him in the past

Yup.

Also, I didn't know that coding was necessary. It's going to be built on the Episode 2 Engine, with a base code and everything.

Edit: Isn't the coding aspect of a mod covered by the compiler?

If your following with the little girl, make her a childhood friend that evolves into his love interest and first kill

Or his younger sister or daughter that he killed : \

Also if your going with the transition to creepy have one of the levels start off with the protagonist walking through a city and then going up an apartment building because he saw the little girl at the top. As he ascends the building the areas become more dimly lit, shadows streak across the walls. Nothing ever pops out at you until you reach the end of the final floor where the walls ooze blood, broken childrens toys lay across the floor, the area is almost pitch black but you can see the ethereal form of a child or walking past you very briefly. When you reach the end you find a dead end, and when you look behind you the girl stands there staring at you.
Not so much scary as it is for the environmental feel
