Whenever I try to run BioShock on anything except low, it lags. A lot. I can run TF2 fine on high, but for some reason BioShock won't. Does anyone else have this problem?

Specs?
Maybe your computer is shit. It would be nice if you at least included your specs.
"Hey guys my car won't go 100MPH but it can reach 60MPH. Does anyone else have this problem?"
Spex or no sex
lol sorry good point
Intel Pentium 4
1.5 gigs of ram
nvidia geforce 8400
shitty computer lawl
TF2 on high? Well, that sure gives us an accurate measure of your computer specs now, doesn't it?
Edited:
Oh, hai there.
coz your pc is old
I don't understand. You seem to already know your problem.
i'm just wondering why it's the only game i have a problem with.
I don't know.. He should be able to run it Medium settings I think.. I have a friend who runs it medium with a worse graphics card. But he has more ram..
Edit: Oh yeah you could go ahead and check your results at canyourunit.com, since that'll give you an idea at what you're lacking in some places. It might or might no help answer your question.
Thanks.
Dang, I passed every aspect except the amount of RAM on my graphics card.
What kind of Pentium 4 and how fast
What kind of RAM
If that's PCI-e get an 8600 at LEAST, the 8400 is terribad.
Fuck that site.
Fuck that site to hell.
It is comepletely inaccurate.
OP, what's the resolution of your monitor?
get the pixel shader 2.0 patch
It's all in the RAM baby.
I use:
Intel Pentium 4 OC'ed 3.10 3.0
2.50GB Ram
NVIDIA 7800 GS 256MB VRAM
Windows XP
My computer is worse than yours, technically. But I can run bioshock on high.
I recently bought this on steam, my comp is insanly powerful, i cant even run it on low, its an Nvidia driver issue, revert back to 182 and problem solved.
I had this too and the game recommended I run it on medium.
Not like it matters I played it all the way through and ignored.
No it isn't. You have a much better graphics card.
8400=complete shit low end 8 series
7800= high end 7 series
7800>>>>>>8400
People really need to learn that higher number does not equal better.
Just a wild guess here, but not enough RAM?
This. My friend kept saying his 8400 was tons better then my old 7800. I tried explaining but he didn't listen...
specs of your so called insanely powerful computer?
hey guys why can't I run properly?
btw im paraplegic
sound theory there OP
I already knew that.
My post was being dumb.
Yeah.![]()
Hate that shit. People need to accept the fact that when they are wrong, they are wrong. It's so annoying and it just makes you look like a dumbass trying to "be right" all the time![]()
So where does that put my geforce gtx 260? better or worse than the 9800 GTX+? Looked into it properly and decided that this card was better.
Edit: I see you all have faulty sarcasm detectors there.
Gtx 260>9800 gtx+
I dunno I've seen some benchmarks that show it's pretty close. It might have been a 9800GTX in sli though.
See: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3334&p=11
Yeah, I think the GX2 implies dual video cards, or something.
What resolution do you run TF2 at?
only marginally
Actually yours is a little better.
1024 x 768 I'm pretty sure.
get an 8800 gt(x) and more RAM
i run it great on highest settings with 8800 gt and 4 gigs of ram
The 8800GTX is a very old card now, a ATI 4770 is a very good deal, but if you have more cash perhaps go for a 4870 or a GTX260.
Why would you recommend him an older card?
It's not a very old card at all, still supports all of my games on high settings, can play crysis almost perfectly on highest settings, and it's not too expensive.
Edited:
Does anyone know the current best nVidia card?
Edited:
Also, which is better, MSI, BFG, XFX, or w/e else?
thanks for all the help and suggestions guys
it's better than a 4770
Your ram is fine.
I have a very good pc.
Core 2 duo E8600 3.16
Ati 4870 1gb
Intel dp4sg Extreme
2gb ddr3 ram.
I just have 2gb of ram and i can run Crysis maxed out. (it is ddr3 tough)
7800 > 8400
Edited:
OP Tf2 can run on a single core fine but bioshock won't 8400 is fine as TF2 is a cpu dependent game, update your drivers at www.nvidia.com
UE3 really needs a dual core. that's what you're missing.
