Big thanks to Irishman23 for fixing up my Medic and Spies. He truely did more work than I did on this whole project. (Believe me, I suck at any sort image editing...these were made by very primitive means) Also, the JPG compression isn't my fault; the original avatars came that way. All these images are PNGs to preserve quality on the hats (though Steam will tear that right back off with its own shitty compression )

ROUND TWO! I've done a few more of the newer hats. Enjoy. By the way, I've been seeing these around both in-game and on FP. Thanks for actually putting these to use, guys.
Update: Decided to go with a different layout since I'm doing some of the newer hats. It should be easier to pick the class you like now.

Originally, all of these had terrible aliasing along the edges of the hats due to the primitive method I was using to insert them into the avatars. I later discovered a better way that had an anti-aliasing effect, and for those I could not fix with that method (SDK Model Viewer fucking sucks at view angles), Irishman23 fixed them up with his ACTUAL skill. I decided it would be a cool idea to go into SDK Model Viewer and copy the Miner's Light onto the Engineer for a unique official avatar (don't wanna get lost in the sea of people using them), and while the full-size version displays bad lighting and ugly aliasing (I don't have the skills to fix that), when the icon is down-sized for use in-game or your friend's list or even here, it looks decent. So, I decided to do a few more...but considering I'll probably never use them, I decided to hand them out.

Now, I don't claim these to be good AT ALL and I'm certainly not a decent artist (I don't even have Photoshop), but I just thought somebody might enjoy these and I didn't want to waste what I wasn't going to use anyway. They look okay when they're sized down for Steam and the like, so use them there.

By the way, I figured out a solution to the ugly-ass aliasing and I feel fucking retarded for not thinking of it before. I'll re-do the avatars to fix them eventually, but it'll take a while. The Scout will obviously be done this way right off the bat.

Well it's good. I'm probably nitpicking here and I'm sorry about that; but since the baseball helmet seems to be a lot longer than the normal hat shouldn't that make the shadow on his face a lot bigger? It's just a small detail but I'm just pointing that out.

A batter's helmet is supposed to be worn over the baseball cap. That way they just put it on and take it off without having to take off the cap. Valve had a pretty cool idea picking a batter's helmet for the Scout, since the side without an ear guard allows them to keep his headset on, too. It might be a lazy way out (i.e. no changes had to be made to the actual Scout when the Helmet is put on), but it's a clever one.

Also, somebody rated me "bad spelling" over "Scoot"? Guess I'll 'fix' it.

Well, like I said, I'm not an artist and I'm only very shoddily placing screenshotted models of the hats over the avatar images with some cropping and resizing, so if you really want some fixed up lighting, ask somebody who can actually do that for you. :P

Personally, I'm pleased. It's pretty cool to see people actually using these things. I hope I run into somebody using one in-game.

Hey hey, I wasn't trying to be critical or hostile. :( I had never seen yours before and I was only pointing out something you might want to fix...and I also wasn't trying to claim credit or anything; I posted my own version and right then noticed your avatar. It's a coincidence, that's all.

Mine is terrible (all of them are ), yeah, but to be honest yours could use a few noticeable fix-ups as well; I noticed that you opted to replace the Engineer's entire helmet rather than just the Miner's Light, and in doing so you made the left side's headband clip over his ear. This, as far as I can tell, was actually caused by the helmet being tipped back a tad too far; it's not the same angle that the original's helmet is. And, if you really want to compare yours to mine, then I'd also like to point out that the lighting on both of them is exactly the same, so you probably got yours from Model Viewer too.

Don't call me out as an imperfect copycat when your own version isn't perfect either.

Also, LycanN, about the Medic...I've tried and I've tried, but frankly Model Viewer is incapable of displaying the right angle at the right size to make it happen right. I could do an aliased version like all the older avatars, but I'd like that to be a last resort... If anybody can give me some tips and tricks for Model Viewer, that'd be great. Remember that the aliased avatars look fine when actually applied to Steam profiles and Facepunch profiles, so if you don't mind me making it that way, I'll go ahead with it.

Wow Facepunch must really pixelate your images when uploaded to be avatars. It blurred the hell out of my spy avatar.

In steam profiles it looks fine, and when in friends list in steam.

It looks alot better on steam than Facepunch.
