Yay! I just wanted to say that Sassilization Deathrun was first server to hit the 128 players limit at around 23:00 GMT, 2009 July 28!

I was there.

That picture was taken milliseconds before the server died a fiery death.

The one big downfall of this: It's completely useless until reliable snapshot overflow is fixed.

Was on there when it happened, i'm compiling a video now and I will post it here when its done.

P.S. net_graph 2 will be INTACT to show the server stress.

Additional note : No reliable "snaphsot" overflows occurred. only buffer overflows.

But did you fill it? It is first because it was filled first. It was filled only 20 minutes after the update.

Pirate ship wars would be awesome with 60 players on each team. Although you would need bigger ships

Off topic : I get on average 220 FPS and I built my computer for 400 dollars.

On topic : The lag was only there when 128 people were spawning, I think that explains itself. :P

Derailing in progress!

Built my friends computer for $1200, gets 300+ minimum in gmod. 1280x1024, settings maxed, on Evocity-2 no less.
When did you buy this computer? A $2000 computer you bought a year ago is worth less than $1000 now.

On track now: All we we need now is some powerful servers to run that many people.

Minimum, as in it has the ability to go much higher, it sticks to 300 when alot of things are going on the server, we've tried to drop it and it takes quite a bit of spamming and random shit to make it drop. Think the lowest we've gotten it before the server crashed was around 250.

Edit: The + was because I've seen it go above 300. Don't mistake me, it's only been like 301, and it was probably a number error more than anything.

I rarely see 60 player limit servers to handle 60 players at the same time without crashing, there must be some unholy shittons on lag on that 128 player limit server.

I'll list the parts I can think of.
CPU: i7 920
Graphics card: GTX 285
RAM: Corsair 12 gigs DDR3 1600
Case: Cooler Master HAF 932
Power Supply: Antec 750w blue truepower or some crap
Motherboard: Don't know the full name just that it's i7 compatible and has x58 in the name

He doesn't like overclocking so nothing is.

I'm currently amassing the last bit of funds for my build (bout $200 to go), which is pretty much the same as his, only big change is he has the 285 where-as I have the 4870 X2 ^_^.

hmmm.. i'm not sure what makes the fps so high. the computer's ram is REALLY high and the graphics card is also really good. what gives it such high frame rate?

anyway, i'm gonna try not to talk about for the sake of not getting banned and for the OP

lol the CPU, card, and RAM.

Gmod under heavy load hardly even takes 4% of his CPU. I'm sure his 50 other background programs aren't helping that though. Gmod is an old game though, on an old engine, it's not very resource extensive unless your trying to make it that way or play a really old machine (like myself currently >_<).

Edit: His parts have steady temps most of the time too. Last time I asked his CPU was round 32 degrees Celsius while playing, the card staying in the range of 52-56 Celsius. He keeps the fans below 50%, says he doesn't want them to burn out, (cause you know, they aren't made to run high or anything, I admit he's a little un-informed) guess he thinks they burn out after 4 hours of 70%.

Re-edit: Here's another, he keeps his damn computer clean (like myself), blowing it out, wiping it down, making sure everything is working correctly, does this every few months or so. I do it once a month though, damn dirt fields. Seriously, I've seen some of the threads of "post your desk/computer" kind of crap, and It shocks me how filthy so many people keep the place, I couldn't live like that, plus my computer is an investment, I don't upgrade to new computers every few years, I wait a good long 5-6 years (about the time it really starts to wear down your nerves) and then blow some money on good parts. I have the patience to look at 20 FPS for a few years after the first 3 or 4.

And yes, this is getting rather off-topic hehe.

I didn't read the latest update notes, did garry change something that allows more people to be on servers or is this a hack?
