Hai, maybe you guys can help me.
When playing, I get like 60 FPS. Normally. Now, when I enter battlezones or the middle of e.g. 2fort, FPS drops down to 20, and less than 10 if there are many players shooting/dying.
Team Fortress 2 also tends to crash randomly.
This wasn't always the case, but as I didn't play TF2 for a while I don't know exactly when this started.
First off, here're my specs:
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 2.33 GHz
Point of View nVidia GeForce 9800 GT with 1024 MB DDR3
4 GB RAM
Most, if not all, of the drivers are completely up-to-date.
I use Very High textures, HWM models/animations, high shaders, basically everything on high. Anti-Alias is on 8x. I used to have graphics enhancing stuff enabled, like colliding ragdolls, burning gibs, etc.
Turning most of this stuff off or down didn't help.
I also tried both, Multi-Core on and off but that didn't seem to change anything. I also cleared out the game cache and defragmented the game files. I removed all of my custom skins.
Now, to compare this, Call of Juarez Bound in Blood runs on highest details with 40+ FPS. FarCry 2 on high/very high details with 30+ FPS. Left 4 Dead, on full with 4x MSAA runs completely smooth, with a constant of 40+ FPS, even during explosions and massive hordes.
All the programs have a resolution of 1680x1050.
Anyone got any idea what the problem is?
