I posted about this mod a while back, but I thought it would be better to get it in the Valve Games section now.

Project-Beta is a full content mod for Portal. This mod will include, new textures, new models, new particles, and a new story mode. There are 2 Possible endings to the mod. The rest of the information will be shown in progress screen shots and media releases.

Looks fucking awesome, I especially like the new portal. I always thought the one put in retail looked a bit dull and weak. I love how with every VALVe game that comes out someone has to start a mod to remake beta content.

I never really understood this mod; is it supposed to restore Portal's visuals to the beta stages or is it trying to be a Portal prequel? Either way, I really dig those new portals...and I recognize that map. Don't remember when exactly I played it but I know I did somewhere along the line. Awesome to see it expanded; I remember when I got to the end of the first version.

Honestly, you raped the particle effects, they are half assed and OTT. Maps are bland, I don't see the point in this 'mod' If you can call it that.

We did not "rape" the particle effects, just recreated the ones that went with the Spiral Portals.

I don't hate everything I just think the effects are unnecessary and OTT. The effects from the first portal trailer would be cool as fuck.

We are working on those aswell, only our main focus right now is to finish with Project-Beta.

Massive Bump, I know but I would rather not make a new thread about this.

Alot of people have been asking about the trailer Portals, so I decided I would show what we have so far.

When I first received the files from Cave they werent as good as I thought they would be.

I decided to work on the Noise Blur, Gradient, and Overlay a bit and here is what I came up with.

There is an odd glitch in the last image with his feet going through 2 portals, but thats due to the speed and time in which I took the screenshot.

Partially, the visuals from the beta werent that great. We are recreating certain things from the Beta/Alpha, the chambers are a very small part to it.

The main goal is to bring some life back into the Portal community and some actual changes to the game. Just think of Project-Beta as a mod no different thank any other Portal mod.

Would be ALOT cooler if the guys didn't recreate the latest stages of development, but the early versions with the game in different setting like in the picture.
