Description
This pack provides several utilities (such as the Stargates) from the TV Show "Stargate SG1" and "Stargate Atlantis" (tm & (c) MGM and it's affiliates).
It's a fan project and is available for free without any intention to make profit out of it.

The Stargates are intra- and intergalactic portals: You enter it on one planet and exit it on another with nearly no time delay you generally have while traveling to this destination using a "space drive".

It also provides a few weapons from the series (such as the staffweapon or Zat'nik'tels) and technical devices (shield/cloaking).
The pack is constantly getting enhanced and the latest version will always be available through SVN.

Anyway SGU Episode 4 was interesting    Nicholas rush was really arrogant "No need to apologise", followed by "i wasnt going to" lol, can't wait to see how they avoid going into the sun, and poor young, seems his misses won't be waiting for him when he gets back, if he gets back   

Atleast it looks like (according to wiki) it's going to air on the haloween weekend, unlike Stargate Atlantis season 5

Like I said before, we don't have anything to talk about until rev45 comes out. (hey, that rhymed!)
Start a relevant conversation that is completely stargate related that hasn't already been said or discussed in any way.
Have you read any Stargate fanfics?

Seriously, some of them are really good. My current fav is a fictional season 6 for SGA without the events of Enemy at the Gate.

we can talk about the addon when there is new stuff to talk about. Currently this is the best thread for talking about stargate as anyone who likes the addon probably watches stargate. Deal with it.

Episode 4 was good, i liked the way the helped introduce some other characters using the kinos. and i wonder    how they are going to escape the sun    next episode.

HI, I don't know if this has already been brought up but I have a question about rev.45:

Will rev.45 have new gate models and textures? A couple of days ago I saw an episode of SG1 showing the backside of the stargate, and it doesn't look like it does in the addon. The backside also has a glyph ring (but it does not spin. I think it doesn't spin...) and in the addon: backside - no glyphs (just some weird stuff :D )

I also remember seing an SGA episode with the backside of the gate and it also looks like the front (with the glyphs and all.)
I don't remember the name of the episode so I can't give you any shots.

i'm quite curious about what they'll find, once rush will may be able to access the destinys main computer :D

by the way...isn't the whole spoiler tag thing a bit overrated?
i mean...if people get to know a few things before watching the episode themself, is that such a problem?
but ok...enough of that...

another question about the next addon version...
could there may be a new khwoosh effect
i'm just asking, because some time ago...TheRealLink (think it was him) posted a video of a kwhoosh effect
he made...and i think he asked people around here for help to convert it for gmod

some things are ok, like i never put the thing about the kinos in spoiler tags because it is introduced early on, and doesnt spoil any of the plot, but other things    like the big sun collision    do spoil things

And, i have the max file for that kawoosh effect on my PC, oh, and the smd's too, so it is possible to get it to work.

i'm not familiar with converting things for gmod etc., but i guess it does, what the name itself suggests,...
that the collision model makes the model itself "collide" with other things in the surrounding space like props, the map etc.
but,...i assume no guarantee for my statement :D

oh, i know what it does, i'm just not sure what to make the collision model, should i make it expand and contract with the Kawoosh, or just be a box, i mean, it happens so fast it's not like you'd have time to run anyway. Plus, i don't know how avon would like such a model to be compiled for use by him. i've not really looked into it.

Makes sense. Maybe it has solar panels, or will colect plasma from the sun, maybe that's how it survived so so long, it just steals parts of suns.

Heard somewhere it's VERY hot in there, maybe much energy too?

That's exactly what I was thinking, maybe some kind of enhanced AI system, I'm just waiting for the ship to start talking... But it just seems extremely adaptable to just be some computer programming,     because it stops perfectly for resources for life support, stopped perfectly to slingshot, yet slightly missed and is now headed for the sun... Which a computer program would probably account for, unless the energy theory is right.

That's the whole point, it was intended to be unmanned for ages, able to keep it's self in tip top condition, and then able to support life if need be. That's the point of the ship.

I was telling my brother that last night. Destiny stopped when the gate dialed in...Destiny traveled to the desert planet for the limestone...what's to say that's not what is happening now...

Well, that video really looks like a video montage of a screenie taken from GMod, and a video part taken from any SG1 episodes... also finding the matching angle and cutting those parts must be a VERY hard work... I want to believe that it is a model, and it is lo-poly so no one will crash if I dial to my ship (if it will be included of course)

I'M sure that Destiny has some sort of AI. It must have. Why? Because it is a self-working automated ship! And if it had to choose, it must be "counted", the ship must do the maths part. And we call this an AI.
By the way I'm planning to make an AI for my home too... A simple PC, connected to some microphones and cameras around the house (and inside too) with some more detectors, a logical speech recognition and a good speech engine, a self-coding (learning) base AI engine, and done! And of course the API for the detectors...

I sorted my PHYs file issue. It was one of two things, an extra space before a -1 in the SMD or the texture being 1 dummy instead of another dummy.

Has the stargate_base lua changed a lot for rev. 45 or will stargates made on the rev. 44 base work the same. IE has there been any interface change? I assume some change must have been made to fix the issue where custom gates always act private unless that is a fallacy with the custom gates themselves.

IMO, The Destiny is headed to the sun because while you'd think they are out of energy, the closer they get, the more they rack up energy, right? So I believe the closer they get, the stronger their shields are. That would be enough to protect the ship. The only problem is it was unmanned for a reason, so there's a chance that the humans will be burned up into a crisp upon entering the giant. It was likely built resistant to the heat.

Also, I don't really think we need a Stargate thread anymore, because it's for the Stargate Addon, not Stargate movies and TV shows. Secondly, if someone comes up with a bad or even good idea for the Stargate Addon, someone just has to start trolling them saying how stupid they are and should die in a fire. /end
