I'll post this again incase anyone didn't see it.
anyone in the UK want to buy a Loaded Dancer, with paris adam colton trucks and Otang 4pres 80a wheels?
It's pretty hard to find a good complete in that price range, http://www.landyachtz.com/D25.cfm?PID=135 is excellent for cruising and carving. But the thing is, any board can be used for what you're looking for.
Take a look at some of the websites I showed above, see if you can get something in a higher price range if possible.
Hate to necro this thread again, but I figured some of you guys would like this.
Kracked Skulls 42" Scimitar. Ordered Randal RII 180, Abec 5 Green bearings, and extra fiberglass for a more rigid feel. Total cost: $126.95. Shipping was about $15. I can't recommend this board enough. Stick some big sliding wheels on it and you've got a perfect slider and dancer. Stick some hard edged, soft wheels on it and you've got an amazing downhill board. The only "drawback" is that it doesn't have any graphics. It just lets the rider put whatever nonsense they want on their boards, which I love.
I'm 6'5 and fat (to be blunt), but dont really look it because I'm so tall.
i fucking love longboarding

this is the longboard i have c:
Why all this necromancy? Anyways I longboard, I can barely go into a speed tuck because of shitty Osgood Shlatters. I find carving really fun though so it's all good.
As I said in the skateboarding thread...
Longboarding is populated with hipsters and non-offensive indie rock listeners. Traditional skateboarding is where it's at, we get hurt more often and get fucking owned when we hit a stone, that's how we roll.
No but seriously I'd like to try longboarding, but I was never really keen of the leaning to turn thing when it came to skating. I mostly did flatground tricks and having loose trucks made flip tricks a pain in the ass, so I had my trucks so tight that leaning would barely turn you and to turn I would put my foot on the tail and do pivots. I also used 48mm wheels (afaik longboards average ~75mm) because it decreased the distance from the tail to the ground, making popping easier.
I'm probably just stuck in 2005 but I exhale in exasperation whenever I see some poser in skinny jeans and checkered vans failing to ride a longboard, obviously only riding it as a fashion accessory.
I might give it a shot if I get a chance, but I'll probably prefer a normal board just because I've used one for ages (plus having no tail will freak me out)
Longboarding is awesome. I don't know much about my board, except it looks and feels like riding half a tree, it's so damn heavy and huge but it's the smoothest ride ever.
I got mine just for transport originally, I can be at my friends house a 5 minute walk away, one push on my longboard and I'll be home in a minute without touching the ground.
i do this kind of stuff on a bike
How do you do a kick-flip on a bike?
you try and break your legs
does anyone know any bearings that are good for cruising long distance on a flat road? my bearings suck and there are no hills near me.
Fuck yes, just smashed my tailbone yesterday skating, tell me that isn't dedication.
It hurts when I sit.
I did that a few times, but by far the worst way is when the board lands on its side, you land on it, then it suddenly flips over onto its bottom / top and you fly down at the ground at 100mph
My ass bone hurt for more than a week.
Sounds like living hell, I'd take a head slam over a tailbone slam probably.
Edited:
Scratch that I hope for neither.
This is why I dislike longboarders. To me they are just people who want to be skaters but can't do flip tricks. But whatever just my opinion.
Man, I'd like to but where I live is completely flat.
Some dude in my school is all "Oh hi I can go down some hill on a board with wheels and it's gotten me a shitty sponsorshit shit", but it seems kinda chill to cruise around with some friends as just a hobby.
Yea, longboards are considered hipstery where I come from. So I signed up for a paraglider course instead :). Starting at the sixth of august, gonna be fucking awesome. And expensive.
I'm interested, looks very fun and relaxing. It's just a shame where I live is pretty much completely flat and full of complete idiots.
I'll look into this a bit more, I may end up giving it a try.
"relaxing" think that thought after your first slam.
I can't pull off a Coleman Slide at all. It's depressing.
Good video but Original is way too overrated imo.

My board, but differing colour of wheels and graphic. I needed something smaller for cruising in a busy-ish city, and I plan on using it for the commute to school. Buses are annoying.
Clearly not a sport made for the Dutch![]()
i personally don't do the riding but i help with photography sometimes, its a couple of my friends that always around around town longboarding but heres some of there stuff
custom board that he did

Outstanding feel that might be...
I have this pre built Element skateboard, I can ride easily but going downhill like that, it is just too hard to keep control of board. Am I bad skater or is it actually much easier with longboard?
Ok, I think I'll buy a cheap board and try this out to see if I actually like it, then later on if I do I'll get a much more expensive one. It sucks that none of my friends have one I could borrow.
I would buy some Bones Super Reds Bearings from http://www.daddiesboardshop.com/. I've been riding on them for months without having to relube them yet. You could also get ceramic ones as well if you want really nice bearings.
Only thing that isn't flat here is Dykes, but they just have a sort of ramp up and then they're flat, more to the south and a bit more to the east it's more hilly though.
As long as other skaters who ride skateboards don't hassle me about not doing tricks on my longboard, then i'm totally okay with you.
You should try some tricks for fun though :). sliding is a blast. especially good way to end a bombing run on a big hill.
Indeed. It's fucking annoying when people bring up a skateboarding v longboarding argument. They're for completely different purposes that can occasionally overlap.
Can't decide on what to get for a first board. Here's a list of what I'll be selling to get some cash for the longboard.
How much do you think I'd get out of all of this? If you make up an estimate, could you also suggest a decent beginners board that'll be used mainly for cruising and perhaps sliding for the same price or less?
Cheers.
I would but I haven't tried sliding yet mainly because I don't have the gloves or a helmet. vv
