I must say that the outcome from this photo is interesting. The end of the paper makes it feel as though the turtle gryphon creature is behind a wall and the glare is something of a moon light source.

Tricks have nothing to do with it. It is having the initiative and ambition to practice nonstop to strive to capture reality. You can easily be better then me with only a month's work if you did enough practice, anyone could.
